Unbundle theme-specific code, include a plugin for anything removed
Many people complain that all-in-one themes and frameworks break their site once they switch themes.
This problem can be overcome by removing anything theme-specific such as shortcodes, and allowing the user to install as a plugin. That way, functionality will remain when they switch themes.
Horizon Licensing
Please forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I am interested in using the Horizon Framework and confused by the licensing.
I would like to modify some of the functions and features of the framework to use in commercial WordPress development projects (themes), basically just customize aspects to better fit my branding and personal needs.
However, I noticed that the code is licensed under the GPL and a copyright notice. I believe these modifications and usage can be done under GPL but don't want to infringe on anyones copyright, which is where my confusion lies.
Could you please tell me whether my modifications and commercial use would be permitted for this. Would there be anything special that I should, need to, do in addition?

Theme Options Panel takes time to load

The theme options panel takes time to load.
<?php echo instead of <?=
Not all Web Servers and PHP configurations supports the <?=.
For wider compatibility, this needs to be changed to <?php echo instead.
Shortcodes not working
I can't seem to get shortcodes working from the visual editor.

Removal of black overlay on Options Save
When saving options you get the black overlay with the message. Any thoughts on removing the black overlay, as you need to click on it to make it vanish. Small point, but an improvement would enhance speed and usability.

New checktoggles always default on first save
When I insert a page builder element the checktoggles are always the default value when I first save the page no matter what is checked. After the first save everything works fine.

Page builder doesn't support multiple columns
When adding multiple columns I noticed that it will use the same title and content as the first column element (this included column-service).
