DTL should look for a configuration file at ~/.config/DTL/config.ini. If no configuration file is found, it should fall back to using default values for the program configuration.

DTL config options

Configurations options shall include:

• DTL_dir: The location to search for DTL files, other than the current directory. Default: ~/.DTL.

Type annotations should be added to the DTL source code.

• dtl format should sort the segments in a file by time.'
• dtl format should sort segment commands before sub-segments.
• dtl format should merge segments with the same time.
  • It should also merge segments with overlapping times, e.g.:
    • @August 9th 20:00 [...] and @August 9th 12:00 [...] should be merged into:

      @August 9th
          @12:00 [...]
          @20:00 [...]
      

  • It should not separate the date from the month, e.g.:
    • @August 9th [...] and @August 10th [...] should not be merged.
    • However, they should be separated if the month is specified in the for header.

A DTL command is defined as dtl <file> <command> [<args>]. If the <file> is prefixed with an @ sign, DTL should look for the file in the DTL_dir directory, not the current directory.
