Had to apply attack's patch http://github.com/attack/httparty/commit/36047e293c77c06b3cf86eea50b9265943047751 to keep my site up while twitter was down today. Please merge in the patch, it's extremely useful.

We ran into a problem today with the twitter outage. Our solution was to monkeypatch from attack's fork (http://github.com/attack/httparty/commit/36047e293c77c06b3cf86eea50b9265943047751). Worked a charm.

+1 We had an issue with Vimeo and our site blew up even though the request was in a rescue block.

+1 for attack's timeout patch. We, too, are running into failures when 3rd-party services are down. Is there a reason this hasn't been merged yet?
