๐Ÿ”ฌ My research journey

  • Initially I pursued an ๐˜ˆ๐˜ญ๐˜ป๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ-related internship at the ๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐‚๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐’๐œ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ ๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐œ๐ก "๐ƒ๐ž๐ฆ๐จ๐ค๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐จ๐ฌ", where I tackled diagnostic classification using text data from ๐˜ˆ๐˜ญ๐˜ป๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ's patients and was exposed to state-of-the-art NLP models from a biomedical perspective.
  • I later worked as a Machine Learning assistant at the ๐๐ข๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐œ๐ก ๐…๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐€๐œ๐š๐๐ž๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐€๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ง๐ฌ (๐๐‘๐…๐€๐€), researching Machine & Deep Learning for ๐˜—๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฌ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏโ€™s classification, using raw tabular data from the Greek ๐˜—๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฌ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ Database. This involves feature importance analysis, visual explanation techniques, and embedding methods. Presented a poster at the 6th HBP Student Conference on Interdisciplinary Brain Research [link].
  • Under the supervision of Ioannis Micaholopoulos, we also researched the severity of COVID-19 and we built a Machine Learning-Based Web Tool. My research interests lie in the fields of genomics, biomedical ML/DL, and time series analysis, while I constantly seek a thorough knowledge of new advancements.
