fullstack-course1-module1's Issues

chrome

In Ubuntu, the "chrome" command is "google-chrome", so if you execute the install script it will fail.

Rails did not install (Windows version)

I ran the specified rails package installer 'railsinstaller-3.2.0.exe' and everything seemed to install fine. However when I did the recommended command line actions to check the versions, only GIT and Ruby installed. Rails commands are not recognized.

botsnap issue

I am receiving an issue when creating the first test file, it says:

An error occurred while installing bootsnap (1.4.2), and Bundler cannot
continue.
Make sure that gem install bootsnap -v '1.4.2' --source 'https://rubygems.org/' succeeds before bundling.

Ruby Past End of Life

This is on an iMac High Sierra, ca 2018.

When running 'rbenv install 2.2.3' in the Terminal I get:

'WARNING: ruby-2.2.3 is past its end of life and is now unsupported.

It no longer receives bug fixes or critical security updates.'

Presumably this means we should be using a newer version of ruby. What version should we use, if any? What is the correct terminal command to use? And can y'all update the installation git?

Docker Images ?

At the start of the lecture, there is a mention of Docker Images. How do I use them and and scripts to build virtual images of the Ubuntu system?

Rails not installing (Mac Sierra)

I get this message when I am trying to install Rails.

ERROR: While executing gem ... (Gem::FilePermissionError)
You don't have write permissions for the /Library/Ruby/Gems/2.0.0 directory.

note.js install fails on vivid

the apt-get update -y fails

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:chris-lea/node.js
sudo apt-get update -y
sudo apt-get install -y nodejs

is it possible to just install a gem of node?

$ rails server
