The program will progressively transcode an audio file, the first second will remain lossless, the second will have been transcoded to mp3 V2, the next second will have been transcoded to mp3 V2, decoded, then transcoded again as mp3 V2.
You will need ruby
, lame
and flac
to run the script.
Put the flac you want to run this on in the same directory with the name
input.flac
, when it is done, the transcoded audio will be in
output.flac
.
chmod +x progtranscode.rb
./progtranscode
Running the script will take a long time, since it needs to encode and decode the song for every second in it. Each encode/decode cycle will take less time as it progresses though, since it will have less to process. (it will only encode/decode what is left, not the whole file each time).
To get an idea of how much longer it will take to run, look at the number of frames in the encoder or decoder output.
