@teamcoltra on your provided link was no mp3 option, only mp4 audio.

HI, is there an option to get m4a or webm audio only formats link with your youtubeDownloader?
I have tried "youtubeID&format=140" (140 stands for m4a, audio only), but i only got thumbnail image of youtube video.

He provide api that support audio format only, mp4 and webm, age restricted video not support, but support vevo and other © video

I think it does not allow mp3 format, so I am using this API http://youtubetoany.com/developers on my website http://mozamp3.com and mp3 download working fine.

Has there been any progress on this? I think including an option to only download audio would be awesome.

There's a function to download and convert audio to MP3. I often find it won't download the adaptive audio though and claims it's not there even though it is.

As Ben notes, there is a function to download separate audio, mp4 or webm, and then you can convert to mp3.
