adifutil's Introduction

adifutil: ADIF data swiss army knife
====================================

This is a quick and dirty command line utility for working with records in the
Amateur Data Interchange Format [1]. It was more or less exclusively tested
against data from WSJTX [2]. It has no external dependencies.

The primary use is "merging" ADIF files with confirmations downloaded from a
system like TQSL with your local data. The code is also extensible:
hamwebutil.py is a very ugly example which generates a website listing your QSOs
from ADIF files, used to make [3].

Examples
--------

By default, it lists the fields present in the set of provided files:

	{0}[calvin ~] ./adifutil.py list boulder.adi
                        azdegs: 9/9 (100.000%)
                        azrads: 9/9 (100.000%)
                          band: 9/9 (100.000%)
                          call: 9/9 (100.000%)
                      cardinal: 9/9 (100.000%)
                       dateoff: 9/9 (100.000%)
                        dateon: 9/9 (100.000%)
                          dist: 9/9 (100.000%)
                           eor: 9/9 (100.000%)
                      epochoff: 9/9 (100.000%)
                       epochon: 9/9 (100.000%)
                          freq: 9/9 (100.000%)
                    gridsquare: 9/9 (100.000%)
                          mode: 9/9 (100.000%)
                 my_gridsquare: 9/9 (100.000%)
                      qsl_rcvd: 9/9 (100.000%)
                      qso_date: 9/9 (100.000%)
                  qso_date_off: 9/9 (100.000%)
                      rst_rcvd: 9/9 (100.000%)

                        tx_pwr: 9/9 (100.000%)

You can extract any particular fields you need:

	{0}[calvinow ~] ./adifutil.py list -F call dateon mode gridsquare dist cardinal boulder.adi
	 W6GRH 2022-08-17 22:29:00+00:00 FT8 DM14 738  SW

You can also export the combined data as ADIF or JSON:

	{0}[calvin ~] ./adifutil.py export -F json boulder.adi
	  {
	    "call": "W6GRH",
	    "gridsquare": "DM14",
	    "mode": "FT8",
	    "rst_sent": -5,
	    "rst_rcvd": -10,
	    "qso_date": "20220817",
	    "time_on": "222900",
	    "qso_date_off": "20220817",
	    "time_off": "222956",
	    "band": 20,
	    "freq": 14.074596,
	    "station_callsign": "W5CAL",
	    "my_gridsquare": "DM79IX",
	    "tx_pwr": "1",
	    "eor": null,
	    "qsl_rcvd": false,
	    "dist": 738,
	    "azdegs": 243,
	    "azrads": -2.0389121203620144,
	    "cardinal": "SW",
	    "dateon": "2022-08-17 22:29:00+00:00",
	    "epochon": 1660775340.0,
	    "dateoff": "2022-08-17 22:29:56+00:00",
	    "epochoff": 1660775396.0
	  },

The tool adds several useful fields to the data it exports, including
distance/azimuth and parsed time fields.
