Hi Jan,
Can I ask you to add support for tags and categories in the theme.
Regards
Rahul
Hi, @janczizikow
Thanks for your nice job, sleek is such a pretty theme that I love it so much π.
I wondered if sleek will support pagination and search in the future?
Append:
Hello,
Absolutely gorgeous setup - I've been using this with a lot of success for my github.io page.
I'd like to add a some jquery .get script to one of the posts that will update some text on the post, but apparently there are some issues allowing cross origin requests for jquery.getJSON. Is there a way to cofigure this to be allowed?
At first I want to forked this repository and I thought it would work just as Github Pages default theme.
Later I found that the pictures hero image did not work well,
and the pictures in the article never display even I wrote as you do.
Now I guess that I should install the Ruby enviroment and try again?
Thx for your patienceοΌ
Migrate from Gulp 3 to Gulp 4, update gulpfile.js
to support the new syntax. It would be also great to switch to es6 syntax, by changing the filename to gulpfile.babel.js
Some resources found online:
https://blog.wearewizards.io/migrating-to-gulp-4-by-example
how to modify logo? the svg on the left of the header (the one that says "sleek").
What software did you use to generate it?
after generate a .md file in _posts, the page can be accessed trough http://localhost:4000/newpost/
but there is no link to that page on the Homepage.
Any wrong?
I modified the _syntax.css file in the _sass folder to modify the theme of the code block, but it was useless. And how can I add a line number to a code block?
so i replaced the image files, including say favicon.ico, but now it just doesnt load any.
when i look at head.html at this line, <link rel="shortcut icon" href="{{ '/assets/img/icons/favicon.ico?v=qA3OXqyw77' | relative_url }}">
I'm not sure why the v=qA3OXqyw77
is added. its for each type of favicon. Even if i change to png (and also favicon.png) doesnt seem to work. Any advice?
Also there are meta tags that still say "sleek" here, would be nice to have them updated to the title in the _config.yml file, so i guess that would look like {{_config.title}}
? I'm still not totally sure of the syntax here.
I have uploaded jpeg images and replaced yours with mine (jpeg) but on the main page they are not displayed (while in the blog post itself, they are displayed correctly).
Do you know why that is and what I can do to fix it?
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate all the efforts and time you put into this theme.
Thank you for the fantastic theme! I've been checking how the website appears using the command bundle exec jekyll serve
for a while now, and I just recently managed to get gulp-cli configured. However, when I run gulp
or npm start
, the served website does not get built properly.
I can successfully run commands such as gulp img
, and I can't seem to figure out what is causing this issue. The website also appears properly when I run bundle exec jekyll serve
. Do you have any insights into this issue (is it merely an issue on my end)? For your reference, I am using npm 5.6.0, node 8.11.3, and gulp-cli 2.0.1. Thank you!
I really like your theme, I forked it on gihubpages, and directed the source to the gh-branch.
I do not use a local installation, I want to do everything on github. I'm a complete noob by the way on jekyll and github.
But I get a page build warning:
"You are attempting to use a Jekyll theme, "jekyll-sleek", which is not supported by GitHub Pages"
I googled it but could not find how to fix this issue.
I would really appreciate if someone could help me.
Here is my website: https://nonodeglingo.github.io/Decentralized-Autonomous-Consulting/
Thanks a lot

I could link one of the jpeg in a new post with : ![alt text](/assets/img/posts/image.jpeg)
but didn't find any info in your documentation about how to properly add them so that the correct thumbnail is displayed depending on the device...
I saw that for post previews, we could just add the image name and your theme would do it.
How can I display an image generated with gulp depending on the client's device?
Sorry, I'm sure this is a beginner question, but I am trying to update the css on the hero image (increase transparency a bit) and when I edit /_sass/pages/_page.scss the changes don't seem to get incorporated into /assets/css/main.css. How do I get this to "build" properly, or do I need to edit main.css directly?
I'm running the site by forking your repo (here: https://github.com/SteinmetzLab/SteinmetzLab.github.io) and using github pages.
Thanks!
Hey Jan,
First of all thanks for that template, it really looks amazing! I just started adapting it for my next data sciences blog.
I have a question : do you have an idea of how I can reproduce the svg on the left of the header (the one that says "sleek")? The font looks awesome and I'd like to keep the formatting that way, just a different text.
Cheers!
Victor
Hello, I have modified comfig.xml set baseurl to "" and empty but the navigator still uses my old baseurl. How to set my domain is baseurl? this is my config.xml (https://github.com/CanaryTechnology/excommerce/blob/master/_config.yml )
Thank you so much!
Your sample images are 16:9, when i put in a 4:3 image it gets stretched in the main feed. I imagine the issue is somewhere in the _card.scss but i'm rather new to all this. Could you take a look?
Great theme btw! thanks
Hello, very nice looking site!
I cloned and renamed it; next thing, I reveice a warning from [email protected]
The page build completed successfully, but returned the following warning for the
gh-pages
branch:
You are attempting to use a Jekyll theme, "jekyll-sleek", which is not supported by GitHub Pages. Please visit https://pages.github.com/themes/ for a list of supported themes. If you are using the "theme" configuration variable for something other than a Jekyll theme, we recommend you rename this variable throughout your site. If you have any questions you can contact us by replying to this email.
I changed to "master", same warning came in for that branch, too.
What's wrong? I got the link from jekyllthemes.org!?
Thanks for shedding some light on me!

I have changed the formspree URL/email address as instructed but when I send now, I get the following error:
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 400 ()
It seems it is trying to submit to formspree.io/[email protected] as that is the email in the error console but I don't see that anywhere in the project folder.
Hello!
Please, tell me. Do you plan update the theme? At this time Sleek theme is don't compatible with 4.0.0 Jekyll version.
What do you think about it? Sorry for the bad English. Thank you for your work!
In the config.yml there is a service_worker : true line and a sw.js file in the root directory. This has to do something with PWA i guess So I want to know how to add a manifest.json file an convert it to a pwa.I also want to know how to enable offline functionality.Thanks.
Just a question. How do I generate the mini icon at the bottom of the page? The twitter svg is what I am talking about.
I want to make one for Reddit but not sure how you did it.
Thanks
Changes on main.css doesn't get included after running npm start
. Though if I'm using bundle exec jekyll serve
and on github pages, site works great. Definitely did the wrong procedure on creating duplicate classes on both main.css and critical.css.
Also removed default posts images such as /assets/img/posts/emile-perron-190221_lg.jpg
local development server still looks for them, could be still included on sw.js
and bundle.js
.
Hi,
I have the same problem that you have here reported before. After removing "theme: jekyll-sleek" the problem still exist and github do not want to build my project :( Could you help me?
I also tried to remove _site from gitignore file and send _site after local build, but also nothing.

Hi @janczizikow ,

hello
I'm using your theme and got a question about could you improve something;
I have image for my blog post and it's displayed ok when I open it.
However, when post is listed in cards it requires thumbnail /img/posts/edison-light-bulbs_925x_thumb.jpg
which I should make myself?
Isn't there some kind of way for jekyll to autogenerate thumbnails, and could you maybe implement it into theme, so me and other users of this theme don't have to resize images to thumbnails?
Thanks for theme, it's pretty swell! π
I am new to this. How can I add subscribe and unsubscribe option to this website
I just setup sending a form with contact form 7 in wordpress that I will be exporting as a static website once its all finished, but when the form submits to formspree, it will not get past the "almost there" page, as clickign the captcha does nothing, it just reloads the captcha.
Currently, the text in the tab of my site reads "Sleek Jekyll Theme | <my_site_title>". I would like it to read simply "<my_site_title>". Is there any way to change this?
I noticed in the HTML generated that this title is determined by the Jekyll SEO tag plugin. In my _config.yml
file I have the title
variable set correctly.
Hi! I'm trying to create my one page with this template. I followed the instructions (bundle, npm and jekyll install etc), however the changes that I made in _config.yml and about.md files are not being updated in the website. Do you have any idea of what is happening? Thank you.
I tried the following command img gulp
and it fails with the following error
'Error: Available images do not match the following config:'
Secondly, what is resolution required for the original image for gulp to create the required thumbnails?
Hey there,
nice theme by the way. Actually it doesn't work for IE 11 (and lower i guess) - it crashes somehow.
Even though IE 11 is outdated, in big companies they still use it. Would be nice if there is any fix in the future.
Cheers
Dave
Really like your theme and I'm trying to adapt it to exactly what I'm looking for, however I'm very much new to this and I'm hitting which I'm sure is something very simple.
In _config.yml if I leave the baseurl to "/" everything loads as expected. I've been able to an archive page and some categories and all is good, however if I modify the baseurl to /myblog-sleek the site fails to build, images are broken etc - clearly something to do with changing the baseurl but I can work out what.

Any pointers would be gratefully accepted - many thanks!
Hi!
Thanks for a great theme. Not sure if this is a bug or something obvious that I missed. I changed the color of the menu from white to dark blue. Whenever I go to a new page in the site it flashes white for 0.3 sec before turning to the correct color. Tried with different browsers on different devices and I get the same result. Any idea how to fix it so that it doesn't always load the menu with a white flash (probably only noticeable then the menu is in another color than white)?
Hello,
I'm a beginner and trying to use the Sleek theme around my existing website. I copied all the relevant files into my repository but now when I run it I get this:
Liquid Exception: Liquid syntax error: Unknown tag 'seo' in _includes/head.html, included in _layouts/default.html
What am I missing? Any advice will be appreciated :)
Thanks!
Hi,
Do you plan to add any multilingual support for this theme?
Thank you for the theme! Trying to install it on my Win 10 Home machine using WSL and get an error when using gulp. I am new to gulp and sass, so any help would be greatly appreciated. When I serve the site without gulp, it works, but the changes in sass are not populating.

Hello,
I'm back.
I have followed your recommendations from here
https://janczizikow.github.io/sleek/contact/
and changed the email address in both mentioned files, _js/scripts.js and _config.yml
Verify that here if you like
https://github.com/zorbathegreek/shift-latest/blob/master/_js/scripts.js
and here
https://github.com/zorbathegreek/shift-latest/blob/master/_config.yml
However, it doesn't work. I have reset the email address at fromspree (they have a reset tool there)
https://formspree.io/unblock/[email protected]
and wrote to the people at formspree. They replied this:
Β | Giovanni P (Formspree) Jan 24, 07:56 AST Hello, Anthony,The form in your page is submitting through AJAX to the address [email protected]. You probably must change something in the Javascript code of the template. |
---|
So, I changed the email address, but why is it still sending to the default address?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Regards,
Anthony
I created my website with jekyll new
, tweaked _config.yml
to have evertyhing showing, added a picture in _img
, and ran bundle exec jekyll server
.
However, the thumbnails are not generated:

Note: I obviously didn't clone the repo on purpose. Below is a snippet of my _config.yml
remote_theme: janczizikow/sleek
plugins:
- jekyll-feed
- jekyll-remote-theme
- jekyll-seo-tag
My question is, using the gem, can I still run gulp img
?
Hi there! Sleek indeed.
I was wondering what Icon theme the footer was using. I needed to add some extra ones, and there's no mention of any reference for it. Thanks.

I have the following node packages installed:

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
There is a dependency (puppeteer) that requires node 8. Users on older versions of node encounter an install failure (as per below):
npm ERR! code ELIFECYCLE
npm ERR! errno 1
npm ERR! puppeteer@0.12.0 install: `node install.js`
npm ERR! Exit status 1
Happy to update package.json but thought I'd log an issue for now. Workaround for anyone that wants to work with sleek
is to upgrade to node 8 or better.
