Currently, we roll our own markup format for the JSON files. It might be beneficial to use an existing standard some options could be:

• Markdown
• limited HTML
• XML
• Pango (built directly into GTK)

I'm not sure which would be best, pango would be most straightforward.

When opening charta, if a note already has a bulleted list you cannot add new elements to this bulleted list. ideally if somebody enters a new line on from within a bulleted list it will always add a new bullet item

Currently, the only way to enter into a tagged mode (bold, italics, and hyphenated list) is by using the key bindings there should be a visual selector Notejot has one that's similar to what I was thinking. The visualizer will also be used to show what mode is currently active - so the user should be able to enable a tag with the keybindnings and disable it with the UI (and vice versa).

You can only create notes... why? why????

there should be a way for the user to delete a note, and when they attempt to there should be some kind of confirmation.
