By analyzing the git repository before the dialog is started an initial set of filetypes can be distilled and configured making the default configuration a breeze for the user.

Add a dialog to locate a directory for visualization.

The current font and bold font are not used as you might expect. The bold font (and size) is used for highlighting.
It might be more intuitive to only have 1 font and drop the bold option and add an option for two different colors and fade between them when a highlight occurs.

Might be a lot more useful if we add jumping using keyboard.

Instead of manually executing a log directive on your SCM and using a python script to format it so that you can create a nice CodeSwarm it will be much more friendly if we stick to GIT (specifically GitHub) and RefWalk the repository directly.

When parsing a log of a large repository that has a lot of gaps (dates that nothing happen) the date just jumps to the next date. Maybe add a gap filler (empty commits). Maybe propertize it with a maximum of x days so that large gaps become smaller.
