Hi, I saw your post:

while I was looking for japan things...

I wanted to look at your code for comparison, and it's great it works!

However, I think it's hard to understand the code and there is too much bloat to what I think it was really needed.

I made a little recursive (can be done iteratively too) version of this problem, I didn't check it thoroughly, but I think it's correct.
