islandora_find_replace's Issues

Users with "use islandora find & replace" permission cannot see F&R links when added to menu (original)

From bradspry:

Setup: users have correct "use islandora find & replace" permission

Added F&R links to Drupal menu:

admin/islandora/tools/find-replace/find
admin/islandora/tools/find-replace/log
Users with "use islandora find & replace" permission cannot see menu links.

Users do however have access to the tool when given direct links by another means.

In summary, users with "use islandora find & replace" permission cannot see F&R links when placed in menu.

Multi-line fields for Search and Replace strings? (original)

From bondjimbond:

I attempted to use this module to correct a problem in about 1500 of our records, where a carriage return was mistakenly added in the field, resulting in poor display in search results.

MODS datastream example: (link)

Wanted to change:
The original print copy of this thesis

to:
The original print copy of this thesis

But in the single-line search string field, the carriage return was converted to a space, and the search returned no results. (I tried using different ways of representing the carriage return character, but nothing seems to work.)

Would turning these short text fields into long text fields resolve this problem?

Documentation/help text to add

For github/administrator

  • general instructions on installation and use, screenshots
  • find is case-sensitive
  • DC record won't be re-generated; neither will label

For end-user

  • help text for end users of the module about reversions, replacing every instance, make sure you preview, etc.
  • find is case-sensitive
  • DC record won't be re-generated; neither will label

Extending module to newspaper issue objects (original)

From Peter McDonald
Since newspaper issue objects do not have a direct "collection" relationship, this module cannot be used to change anything in newspaper issue objects.

I suppose this is true of book page-level objects too. With no collection relationship, Find and Replace can't be configured to be used on them.

Anyway, if the Find and Replace module could be extended to work on these kinds of object, it would make the tool even more useful. Just an idea.
