Make FlowModalStep inject an active prop into it's children. This prop should only be true once a step is effectively the current step and any transition that occurs between steps has finished.

The purpose of this prop is mainly to allow setting focus to a specific element of the step once the step is active. See ipfs-shipyard/pm-idm#145.

The children of FlowModalStep should necessarily accept the active prop, otherwise there should be render props surrounding the FlowModalStep children.

Another approach could be to have another prop in FlowModalStep called notifyActive, which when set to false(as it should be by default), it won't try to inject active into its children.
