Upgrade to current version

Current membership is spread across GitHub, Google group, Slack instance, and conference registrations. Need a way to:

• Give members a single place to join / manage preferences / leave
• Simplify login and identity management for any Commons services
• Give the organization the ability to add / remove members from sub-groups (such as website maintainers, conference proposal reviewers, or discussion group members)

Currently innersourcecommons.org only redirects to the GitHub website (currently paypal space) upon entry on port 80/HTTP. Entering via port 443/HTTPS yields a connection refused instead of the expected redirect. We should do redirects on both ports and have them all end up on the TLS version of GitHub.

As visible in InnerSourceCommons/InnerSourceLearningPath#97 and InnerSourceCommons/innersourcecommons.org#54 our current slack inviter refuses to work due to being on the free plan now.

Both issues describe the same problem that I would deem a problem with our infrastructure.
A short research would offer this approach:

  • this apparently requires to regularly rotate the invite link
• https://intoli.com/blog/make-a-public-slack-community/
  • looks interesting and indeed does work, possibly also with a free plan Slack.
• We're currently using SlackIn, does someone have experience if the free plan limits would represent an issue with this inviter too (i.e. a general Slack free plan limit)?
