Would it make sense to make the unused value either an empty binary, empty list or the empty atom '' so to reduce it's overhead when serialized using term_to_binary/1?

Add edocs. In theory they could be identical to the OTP, but simple copying will (?) violate OTP's APL license

What do you think about making gb_sets part of the benchmarks? I suspect it might yield interesting results on intersection.
