It would be really amazing having support for up/down as we have for right/left.
We could fully navigate in 2D.

since this function returns the sum of the average pixel color value and divided by the number of pixels It would return an average pixel value of between 0 to 255. but in "making adjustments for light level" you check
for light level between 0-1 and 1-3 else it's the normal case, which to me seems a little wrong. I'm not sure how you established the lightlevel test and connection to the pixel_treshold and the frame_threshold so I don't know if this is a mistake maybe I'm missing something.

bumped into this while refactoring the function into the desaturation function (no need for two loops for that).
be glad for clarifications
