This will fix the wrapping weirdness problem (test, duh)
Allows you to press outside the menu or touch the hamburger button to toggle the menu closed
On program page, center times vertically so they are in the middle of the block displaying the event info (rather than at the top as they currently are)
Note that this may be difficult (impossible?) sans flexbox, which may be problematic to add in and of itself
Can it be animated? What happens if it's too small? If "too large" is even a thing, does it affect anything other than load time? Etc
In order to see how navigation will work
Generate a list automatically from a list (array?)
look at spacing between corwin pavilion and title of session
Specifically: "in the html you just have to say something like <span class="countdown" rel="2017-02-09"></span>
. Then using jquery magic every span with class countdown becomes a countdown to the right thing."
Background too obviously purple on OnePlus 3, chrome browser. Lighten? Or perhaps is a color setting issue, as said phone is known to be overly saturated?
Nav bar shouldn't resize to accommodate title
Unintuitive specifically when "people span multiple lines. I still think using css multiple-columns would look easier."
Offer appropriate alternatives, up to/exceeding webAIM standards
When you view accommodations page on geekscat, the alert that houses the info about UCSB pushes left when it shouldn't. Compare to local version.
Make sure the html and css are properly annotated so future editors of the page will understand where they should and should not place their changes. Additionally, write a comprehensive Google Doc explaining where non-developers should edit the code in order to make the changes they want.
Add important dates to google calendar or ical
Make sure to use with alternative gradients/page bg-color.
Consider adjusting text shadow if necessary?
I have NO IDEA how this is possible, but when I sample the colors using Sip, they're not a match for the colors they're specified to be
Must be finished in order to start playing with the idea of switching over to templates
When the title on the nav bar fades in on mobile after scrolling past the header, I'd like the color to be different than it actually is. Doesn't work at present, not sure why
Ideally the nav bar and main page layout should be contained in one file, rather than repeated in each individual file, so as to make for easier site-wide changes.
From Steve: "...three different sub directories (call them silver, gold and platinum), where we would put sponsor logo files, and then have it pull the files from that directory and put them on the sponsor page under appropriate titles (Platinum, gold and silver), further could you make sure that they appear at different sizes (with the platinum ones largest and displayed first, smaller and second for gold, and lastly smallest for silver)?"
From Mike, feedback: "Doing this would require either some mechanism server side, or a one-time thing to scan & generate static HTML."
Self: not sure, investigate further
More tabular, less huge headers (i.e. see below)
Feb 9 Submission deadline at 23:00 UTC (3:00 pm PST)
Note that this is relevant to updates as well as important dates.
General info and important dates could go side by side
Use mustache (possibly Handlebars?) instead of plain HTML5 to generate new pages and ultimately make the whole design more reusable for future conferences with this organization.
Another issue with iPhone SE (both chrome and safari browsers), discovered by Kathleen. The menu won't scroll down in order to show all its contents, so the user only has access to half the links on the nav.
Different color scheme choices for different conferences. Only requirement is that they look nice with the IACR logo.
From Mike: "Another thing to consider: there should be a print style-sheet as well. Probably it should look like the full-screen mockup in terms of layout, but without extra shading and without the navigation bar and header etc."
Ideally this will be tested with a variety of images, to make sure they will size correctly/display nicely, regardless of actual content of image (since various conferences will be using their own images for the header.
When conference name + date + venue are side by side, the header is too tall vertically
The contrast between text and background is not high enough (something in the 4-5 range, compared the 7 range it should be in). Also testing in regards to browser text resize settings has not yet been done.
Ambiguous about this one, but if a fixed header at top on desktop view, would have conference name
When clicked, the hamburger changes from a dark purple background to a pale gray, with very similarly colored spans. It does not change back to the purple until you click away, into the main body of the page or change pages. This makes it appear that the menu button is nonfunctional (grayed out).
No first initial only formatting - Kevin would like to remind the committee of this
Partials or bust!
Feedback from Kathleen: when I come here, I'm looking first for the important dates, second for the updates that have been made to the webpage.
MUST work on mobile! scrolling currently doesn't work, though the menu resize did (but maybe remove that and test scrolling again??).
Include IACR logo in upper right, have conference name appear there. If latter, bonus points for conference name fade in on menu bar after the main header conference name has scrolled out of view (so the name doesn't display twice)
On medium-large displays, have symbols in two columns rather than all stacked
Page senses user's local timezone and converts all times to local time (date formatter in jquery for formatting).
More columns, no extra borders. name & affiliation perhaps on separate lines (or different columns?). See https://responsivedesign.is/develop/css/css3-multiple-columns for example
Still an issue on iPhone SE (thanks Kathleen!), both safari and chrome browsers. This is in spite of it checking out on the iphone 4 simulator via chrome dev tools, which is supposed to have the same screen res as the iphone SE. :-/
Then use GET request to populate appropriate fields. That way whoever's editing the website will be mostly editing the JSON file as opposed to the HTML.
Overall blue cast on everything feels too monochromatic
