The auditing example that logs to database only uses DB2 as, in a lot of cases, that was the database type that customers would already be using for their Information Store so it removed the need to set up a separate database server.

There is nothing stopping you setting your auditing code up to connect to and store the data in a different database system and writing to that instead or alternatively using one of the non database examples to record the auditing data.

What is being logged in the example, where it is being logged, the table structures used for the logging, and other aspects are all just examples and we would expect that when you come to write a production version you would write whatever you needed for your specific requirements.
