how can i restart mysql service and properly configuration for mysql[i].default_socket?

Hi all,
As title, i'm using your image to run a php app but got error can not connect to mysql (err: 2002). I'm search ing and know the issue is by wrong confi of mysql[i].default_socket I've change it to /run/mysqld/mysqld.sokcet in /etc/php5/php.init but i can't confirm that it true and i don't know to restart mysql service. I tried with rc-service mysql/mysqld restart but bot failed.
