We are holding an appdata file for setroubleshoot here in the Fedora Appstream, however this data should be included in the upstream release rather than here.

Hi @hughsie,
You asked on the FontForge developer list about adding appdata.
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=31882250
Please let us know if this file is what you were looking for.

Also of interest is the possibility of adding language translations since we have active translators (example @yurchor ) that would like to add language specific info. If you have examples that can help, that would be appreciated.
Hi Richard,
Since you're already generating appdata from the entire Fedora package set, would it be possible to generate a list of application packages that do not have appdata files yet? I can then look into filing bugs and nudging maintainers to write and submit appdata files for these, maybe even a virtual FAD where community members can go over the list and filebugs with file submissions?
I think the list would be:
Set of all fedora packages containing desktop files - (Set of fedora packages with appdata + Set of appstream files in this repo)
Thanks,
Ankur

Consider removing the "Google Plus" web app from webapps.xml. Google Plus was shut down and the app is no longer useful, but is still shown in GNOME Software on the latest Fedora Rawhide.
We have requested upstream for gda-browser to include an appdata file. The upstream bug is:

On Ubuntu, I get:
me@host:~$ appstreamcli dump thunderbird.desktop
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<component type="desktop">
<id>thunderbird.desktop</id>
<name>Thunderbird Mail</name>
So the ID is thunderbird.desktop
in Ubuntu but mozilla-thunderbird.desktop
in this repository. Isn't the whole point of the ID to refer to the same application under the same ID?
Upstream giggle has an appdata file in their trunk, but we are just waiting for their next release so it is included in Fedora.

Transmission ships icons in transmission-common, because it has two different frontends (QT and GTK, yes, this would also imply we'd need to somehow make sure only one appears) that share the same icon.
Libreoffice ships icons in libreoffice-core, this is probably wrong but it's just an example.
More examples will follow
Your LICENSE file implies that the default license is GPL-2, but I think you mean for stuff here to be CC0-1.0?
A few things noted while leaving through categories:
gedit missing from utility/text editor
gnome-calculator missing from utility/calculator
many text editors in utility/general
nautilus not in utility/file tools
can't find rhytmbox anywhere under audio
nothing under math - would have expected maxima sagemath gap octave
gnome-software not in settings/package manager
firewall configuration shows up twice in settings/security
epiphany not in network/web browser
libreoffice apps missing altogether

We should show the language supported by the font, e.g. rpm -q --provides lohit-assamese-fonts
config(lohit-assamese-fonts) = 2.5.3-2.fc20
font(:lang=as)
font(:lang=bn)
font(:lang=mni)
font(lohitassamese)
lohit-assamese-fonts = 2.5.3-2.fc20
So, show অসমীয়া for "as".

Upstream seems to be dead, but it would be great if the AppData file could be included downstream in Fedora. It is already used in the Flatpak DOSBox package on Flathub.
The appdata summary for audacity states that it has support for MP3s, but the version in Fedora is not built with this capability.
I assume we need to keep an override for audacity in the fedora-appstream data that removes mentions of file formats that arent supported in the Fedora builds.
