By 'linearization' I mean do a toposort on the deep nested structure the comment endpoints give you, keeping the one parent of each toposorted node, then shove all of them in a linear thread, showing the parent contents of each threaded bit.

you always know you got a good child comment when parent karma < child karma. basically the only reliable feature i've seen of actual quality of comment, wrt karma, as opposed to the actual source of karma which is being early on threads (because ofc child comments are later than parent comments)
