This is a long-standing problem with running CrashPlan on Synology due to the BusyBox binaries. Recently, I wrote a health check script that I schedule with the DSM Task Scheduler to restart CrashPlan if it isn't running (mine was crashing periodically). In the process, I found my CrashPlan was trying to upgrade itself (which we all know kills it). In this case, Code42 had not published the new version for download from their site, so if I wanted to get CrashPlan working, I needed to get the upgrade to work. I've ironed out a manual process for getting the upgrade to work. I plan on putting this together in a script that will check for and fix pending upgrades.
