obsidian-api-docs's Introduction

I'm a PostDoc student at the University of Edinburgh. My research focuses on combining symbolic reasoning and machine learning, or "Neuro-Symbolic Learning". I'm also interested in Personal Knowledge Management and developed some plugins for Obsidian. I obtained my PhD at the VU Amsterdam in 2024.

obsidian-api-docs's Issues

Create a getting started guide for developing community plugins

Many people are interested in developing simple community plugins, but the obsidian API itself provides little guidance on how to get started. Suggestions on what this could include

  • Fork sample plugin
  • Install node.js
  • Setting up package.json, rollup.config.js and tsconfig.json
  • Running the rollup command npm dev
  • Writing a 'hello world'

Create user-maintained lists of community plugins

Like how the Obsidian help vault has a directory for core plugins, we could also have one for community plugins. This would allow linking to these plugins, and creating lists to help people find the right plugin for their problem.

Do you think this is in scope? Or should this vault focus on the API?

Why is this here?

It's a great idea to have some documentation on the obsidian api, but there's nothing here. Could you add some documentation to at least get people who read this started?
