While in LV cannot change the Focus Metering and Focus setting

Is there a reason for that? Exposure Metering can be set. But Focus Metering
and Focus setting does open the dialog, you can select something else but the
button remain, e.g. was AF-S, changed it to AF-C but still shows AF-S. If I
exit LV, do the change then, all is fine.

Setting Speed/Aperture is counterintuitive

In the main screen it is not obvious what can be clicked, e.g. the speed and/or
aperture is just text and has no indicator that this is actually selectable.
While on the tablet the text is large enough to figure out on the Nexus 4 I
never managed to click on it and change it.

One suggestion: Keep it as is but add two more menu buttons on the left side
that are grayed out or not depending on the camera mode. Just as a second
option.

Exposure change during Time Lapse shooting

Hi Zoltan,

this is not an issue, it's a question that I cannot answer myself as I have not
yet bought a new mobile device to run your dslrdashboard to try it out myself.

While shooting a time lapse from day into night it is necessary to change the
exposure time without interrupting the current shooting of the time lapse
sequence. Is that possible with your dslrdashboard?

Here an idea for further development (in case you're interested).
When shooting a time lapse sequence from day into night (or the other way
around) the available light inevitably changes. Cameras normally reflect this
fact by showing the amount of under- / over-exposure.
Currently exposure settings must be changed manually (or in my case with my
Arduino running a USB-Host shield doing just that).
The idea is enable a function that reads the amount of over- / under-exposure
and then changes for example the exposure setting only if the last 5 shots have
been under-/over-exposed by say 1 EV.
2 parameters should then be user configurable: a) the number of shots required
to change the exposure setting b) the amount (in EV) of over-/under-exposure to
trigger the exposure adjustment change.
This would enable exposure adjustments according to readings of the built in
light meter in your dslrdashboard.
What do you think?

Greetings, Hans.

If no camera is found show the network selection screen

Especially for first time users it is important to help them getting the camera
connected. For a WU-1b user it is odd to start the application, see the message
no-camera-found and then not knowing that you have to hit the back(!?!) button
to get to the network setting screen. I would show this screen always when no
camera is connected or at least make this the default screen at first start.

D7100 scene mode liveview prohibition

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Select "Mode SCENE"
2. Press "Lv" button in dslrdashboard

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect the camera to go into liveview mode. Instead, I get a "Liveview
prohibition" warning in the app.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
D7100 and Android 4.1.2 on SGS3LTE.

Please provide any additional information below.
When I select "host mode" in the app and start liveview in mode "P", for
instance, and then, while liveview is on, select "Mode SCENE" in the app, there
is no such warning and the camera switches to that mode even in liveview. I can
then select a scene and the camera adapts its metering etc., as expected.

This leads me to believe that at least for the D7100 the "Liveview prohibition"
warning for "Mode SCENE" is wrong because the camera obviously supports this
combination.

This in fact also goes for both modes "AUTO" (with and without flash), and also
"Mode Effects", although for the latter there does not seem to be a way to
select effects in the app. Perhaps the button that displays the scene modes
menu should switch to displaying effects instead in this case (see issue #30).

instant preview stops on first image created through pressing camera button

I'd like to use this nice app mainly for reviewing images that I shoot using
the camera directly and without triggering each photo using the app. By
enabling the respective option for instant preview the preview window pops up
immediately after I shoot the first photo, as desired. However, the preview
does not move on to the next images that I shoot. I'd always like to see the
most recent image in the preview window, comparable to tethered shooting with
lightroom.

I do not need the images to be stored on the android device. I just want to use
the bigger tablet screen for review while shooting.

D7100 scene mode menu is incompatible

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Select "Mode SCENE"
2. Push the scene mode button in the app and compare what you see with what the
camera offers in this mode instead.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I see a list of scene modes that seems to be derived from a different camera. I
would like to see a complete list of the scene modes the D7100 supports.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
D7100 and Android 4.1.2 on SGS3LTE.

Please provide any additional information below.
It looks like the current list mixes modes for which the D7100 has two
different major modes. "Portrait", for instance, belongs to "Mode SCENE", while
"High key" and "Low key" belong to "Mode EFFECTS", which is an extra position
in the camera mode dial.

With the D7100 Nikon has apparently categorized the scene and effect modes with
regard to what requires JPEG (Mode EFFECTS; post-capture image processing), and
what works also with RAW (Mode SCENE; pre-capture tweaks, like metering and
focus mode).

To support this in the app there either could be two buttons for these two
major modes, or the button listing the scenes/effects would have to be context
sensitive, the latter option saving some screen real estate.

D800E focus stacking issue

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Connect D800E to Samsung Galaxy S3
2. Turn off autofocus (red AF symbol + off in settings)
3. Focus using Lv
4. Start focus stacking e.g. 5/10 steps a 50/100

What is the expected output?

What do you see instead?
Focus is shifted, then camera autofocus kicks in and moves focus point back
sometimes while the picture is taken.

What version of the product are you using?
0.30.18 Beta

On what operating system?
S3 - Android 4.1.2

Please provide any additional information below.

Capture: writes to CF card only or optionally to disk (in tablet)

Hi Zoltan,

I guess this asked and/or answered before:

When captureing an image dslrdashboard writes image-data to the cameras CF, SD
or whatever card. Fine.

Does dslrdashboard provide an option to write image-data (via USB-cable) to the
attached (Android)-device?

Situation: When shooting a time lapse sequence (and plenty of power to both
camera and Android-device is available) so that the available disk space is the
only limiting factor.

Thanks for feedback, Hans.

Auto exposure lock (AE-L) on live view

Hi,

I didn't find a way to lock exposure on dslrdashboard's live view. Is there a
button (or an option) for that?

I record a lot of green screen videos and exposure lock is necessary to keep
the exposure of the background constant (for chroma keying to work correctly).

With AE-L option dslrdashboard would be a perfect remote application for
experts who record themselves in front of a green screen.

Best,
Petri
