A curated list of data sources for anything involving politics and government in Australia. This repo is my contribution to the fight against misinformation and in support of a true democracy.
- AEC Transparency Register - Donations and expenditure by parties and campaigns.
- Hansard - Transcripts of Australian parliament and its committees. You can download parliamentary debates for the Senate and the House of Representatives.
- Our World in Data - Lots and lots of data in various repositories, including:
- COVID-19 Data - Worldwide data on vaccinations, tests, hospitals, deaths, etc.
- CO2 Data - CO2 and Greenhouse Gas emissions, as well as energy consumptions across the globe.
- General Datasets - To be used with caution.
- data.gov.au - Datasets provided by various branches of the government. You can browse or search the datasets themselves, or look through the list of organisations that have contributed. Some notable datasets hosted directly by data.gov.au include:
- Australian Taxation Office - Includes tax statistics, releases of ad-hoc data requests, information about the voluntary tax transparency code, self managed super funds, corporate tax transparency, and HELP (Higher Education Loan Program) data.
- Australian Bureau of Statistics - Includes net overseas migration, population demographics, net interstate migration, house pricing data, consumption of alcohol, and much more.
- Department of Social Services - Information about JobSeeker payments, the cashless debit card, disability employment services, child support, etc.
- Australian Public Service Commission - Public Services employee census, employment data, and the APS Career Pathfinder.
- ABARES - Australian Bureau of Agriculture and Resource Economics and Sciences
- Data.SA - South Australian Government Data Directory. Includes datasets from organisations within the South Australian government such as SA Health, Department fo the Premier and Cabinet, SA Housing Authority, City of Adelaide, Environmental Protection Agency, etc.
- Queensland Government - Open Data Portal for Queensland Government, including datasets for organisations such as Environment and Science, Communities, Housing and Digital Economy, and Queensland Health.

- Open Australia - Provides easy-to-read transcripts from Hansard for debates in the Senate and debates in the House of Representatives.
