For this:

@run_with_curio
async def test_chunked():
    r = await get('http://httpbin.org/stream/1', stream=True)
    assert r.status_code == 200
    async for chunk in r.iter_content():
        print(chunk)

will cause OSError: [Errno 9] Bad file descriptor sometimes.

It's because the session and connection was closed after r = await get(...), subsequent reads will fail.
But Requests seems read out response body when r = get(...) finished, so it not cause errors.

I'm tring to find out the correct implement.

You might want to add asks to your "similar projects" list.

The PyPI releases do not include tests, and there are no GitHub releases, so I can not get a stable URL for fetching tests of a release

The ability to use a proxy is one of the important features!
