First of all, thanks for making this code available, it was a good place to start for me. The code does not work straight off the bat because Twitter does not support streaming over HTTP anymore. The code has to be migrated to HTTPS. I have forked your code and would be more than willing to share the patch with you, let me know.

It is annoying to edit the script to enter the OAuth consumer key and secret. It would be easy to accidentally commit them as well. Externalise them into an external file that is read when the script starts.
