Occasional Crash in Mac OS Catalina

Hi!

I am currently running Mac OS Catalina with the kext's installed from this project and HoRNDIS 9.2 (to connect to the internet via USB tethering on my Android device). Everything works perfect most of the time, I really enjoy using this computer with Mac OS, I can say that it feels better to use it than Ubuntu or Windows on this machine :)

However, from time to time, the backlight turns off and the system is automatically rebooted, and I want to help to solve this issue. Unfortunately, I am still pretty noob with Hackintoshing (only done this on a Matebook and an HP Spectre x360), and I still don't know which information (or which terminal commands) should I use to get more info about these crashes and possibly help us arrive to a solution. I would really appreciate if somebody can tell me which commands to run in order to provide some relevant information.

Thanks for your work, I can say that configuring this computer was much more easier and straightforward than the HP Spectre, even on Catalina.

Occasionally, on wake from sleep, trackpad doesn't work.

Doesn't happen on every wake, just occasionally. Any way to track this?

Boot problem

I followed the steps to create my bootable usb with the script on the github. But Windows was getting started. So I did "Dual Booting Fix". I can start clover in verbose mode now but it stops on this line (""Lilu : user @ failed to change memory protection (0, 2)") and then the script starts again. The PC starts on Windows.

No WIFI on Catalina

I have the edimax EW-7822ULC wifi dongle, and it was working fine in 10.14. Did a clean install of catalina, and I cannot get the wifi working. I installed the driver from here but no luck. The wifi utility doesn't seem to run and the computer doesn't recognize the wifi adapter. Am I missing something?

Reboot after running the auto installer never finishes

Hey there !

I installed macos14.4 using unibeast and tried a combination of multibeast + your auto run script for the post install setup.

The script did run just fine and forced me to restart after on... Well... Clover theme was updated... I choosed "Boot mac os" as always and i started to show me the apple logo with a progressbar... The first half loaded fast... Then it took about half an hour to load the second half of the progressbar.

Later on the bar was full... But nothing happened, i waited 10 more minutes without sucess... I decided to restart my laptop and try to boot again... The same happened as described above.

Should i just wait more ? Should it take such long ? Is there a way to reset the auto installer script ? Or the files it installed ?

BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext

The readme mentions a BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext in the repo, but it is not there. It's found in a older commit though: https://github.com/gnodipac886/MatebookXPro-hackintosh/tree/8ec6263ae05a3ecfa6bac89591d557aac9722369/CLOVER/kexts/Other

IMPORTANT BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext is in /CLOVER/kexts/Other from this repository - make sure to move it to /Library/Extensions. These kexts will allow bluetooth to persist after a single reboot from Windows.

Audio not working

Does anyone has any trouble with the audio? The speakers show up in settings, and I can "change" the volume with the keys, but I am getting no sound.

I am on Catalina 10.15.2

No trackpad after June update

After installing the June update with the autoinstaller, my trackpad is no longer working. I also do not have the option to turn bluetooth on/off. Maybe it did not install correctly? This is what I see when I run the autoinstaller

e. Locate your USB in the left sidebar and navigate to OS X Base System/Install macOS Mojave.app/Contents
f. Right-click in the empty space in the main window and select Copy Here g. Navigate to Install macOS Mojave.app\Contents and select the SharedSupport folder h. This should start copying the folder to your USB - this might take a while to complete.

What exactly does this mean? The USB already has SharedSupport folder in the Install macOS Mojave.app/Contents folder

"Copy here" in the window's installation guide

Sleep doesnt work.

Not sure what to provide to help diagnosis, but when I put the matebook to sleep (either by shutting the lid, or by Apple > Sleep the unit initially goes to sleep with in about 30 seconds, and then usually less then 30 seconds later comes back on line.

I can verify this by several factors,
The Wifi dongle comes back on line (little green light)
The fans still spin
The battery is dead by the end of the day.

I have disabled the BT in the bios because it kept causing crashes. (when it woke from sleep-ish state it had a crash dialog that showed the BT being the cause)

I am using a tp-link AC600 Nano adapter. (Archer T2U Nano) designed and made for MacOS with the current drivers.

MacOS version 10.14.5

Any help is appreciated. Never really noticed how annoying it is to not have a laptop go to sleep until it doesn't.

Trackpad not working

First thank you very much for your amazing work !

I have an issue with the trackpad that is not recognized in system preference. The kexts VoodooI2C.kext and VoodooI2CHID.kext are indeed installed in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/OTHER. I've succeeded to apply the DSDT patch you provided for the brightness keys (i've had two error on compile in MaciASL so i removed the section with issues to be able to save) but i can't find the patch for the trackpad that you say is required on your last update. Beside of that everything seems to work like a charm.

Cannot enable Bluetooth (Catalina)

I upgraded to Catalina using the latest update provided here (awesome, thank you). But I cannot get the Bluetooth to work. I have followed the VMware/TinyLinuxCore method but when I try to enable the Intel Bluetooth Adapter (select check box), I get a message:

'The USB device "Intel Bluetooth Adapter" is unable to connect to the guest due to a host application or driver claiming the device.'

I've checked that VMware has the right permissions etc and various combinations of booting (warm and cold) but no luck. Any suggestions appreciated...

Volume button,4 speakers, sleep

I have updated the Clover folder with the new kexts, but I still have the volume button issue and even trying the Midi solution only two speakers are working (and not 4).
Sleep has still got issues, the laptop suddently wakes up while the solution of deleting an USB kext posted here solved the issue completely with the previous version of the kexts.

Occasional crash when running Duet

Got this twice in the past week. Not doing anything other than using Duet as a third monitor. Very rare issue but can be annoying.

10.15外置声音和commd键

我是在10.14.6版直接下载升级的，然后替换git上的clover，成功升级，目前蓝牙运行良好。
已知问题：

外置喇叭无声音，插耳机或者蓝牙连音箱没问题
commd键无法使用（alt键现在是commd功能）
睡眠有发热现象

是不是要重建缓存，需要怎么操作？

i5 MateBookXPro "... Testing Hardware ..."

Howdy,
I'm trying to install from USB using the windows usb creation method and my i5 MatebookXPro doesn't get past a black screen saying "... Testing Hardware..." Perhaps its looking for the NVIDIA GPU? I've tried looking through the config and i've not seen any references to the DGPU explicitly.

Upgrading to Catalina

Guys,

For those who successfully upgraded to Catalina, how did you do it? I tried installing directly from the app store but when the machine reboots, it shoes the apple logo with the loader stuck at just 1%.

I also tried flashing the image to a flash drive and booting it, it gets to 100% eventually after a very long timem, but after that, it’s just there, stuck at 100%.

I folow the guide. Since I dont have apple device I first went to install mac environment without it part of the guide. And I stucked on this screen https://imgur.com/QLmCtaJ (7th step). That what reads in guide is not representing what I see on the screen, I tried by guess and clicked on "Boot macOS install from OS X Base System" but I just get black screen and nothing else.

Hi! I've managed to prepare a working installation usb with Mojave 10.14.6 using the script 'gibMacOS' referenced to in another post. Everything seems fine until I start the actual installation when I am met with a "recovery server could not be contacted" error. Anyone experienced it before? What can I do?

cannot boot from SSD

I am able to boot into macOS from the clover drive, but once I install the clover EFI and try to boot from the volume on my internal SSD, it loads about 75% and I get the "Prohibited" sign. Any idea what I could be doing wrong? Is there a log file you may need?

Volume Mute button not working

Hello there.
I've installed Catalina 10.15.1 using your Clover folder but currently the volume mute button works just "graphically". I mean, when I click on it the mute popup shows up, but it doesn't really bring the volume to 0.
In System Pref->Volume the Mute option to tick is also greyed out and can't be engaged.

Tunnel WiFi adapter from VM

Is there a way to attach the wifi card into a VM and then tunnel the network back to the host machine? With a lightweight VM, it's like essentially having wifi.

With bluetooth, you can load the firmware/device by loading a VM. Is there a way to attach the wifi/network adapter to a VM? I haven't been able to get any VM to see that there is even a wifi adapter in the system.

News on MateBook 13 port?

I would love to have this work on MateBook 13. Has anyone tried it? Does it already work?

Hi Guys! thanks for all the information I manage to install everything perfectly :)

Reporting issues:

Random restarts seem that when I activate the Bluetooth it gets more often
When I close the lid, sometimes it goes to sleep, others just keep awake but I noticed that the clock its messed up when I open the lid in the morning, if I go to sleep at 1 am usually it gets stuck at 4:50 am dunno if it points something out.
WiFi sometimes completely stop workings, gonna try to find out if a driver issue or not

Does anyone know how to update kexts in clover files?

Incredible bad battery life ?

I lately completed the guide for installing mac os on the matebook x pro.
Theres one issue... the battery life... its currently at 70% and tells me there 3-4 hours left of battery charge with auto adjusted screen brightness ( 50% ) and no other tasks open.

I already updated the CPUFriend & Data-Provider kexts... but they dont seem to improve the battery life... atleast i saw no effect.

Any ideas what else we can do ? Atleast 8-10 hours would be enough and close to the battery life at windows.

Worrying random shutdown

Hello there. I'm using my Matebook Pro X with this hackintosh installation as a daily driver (Catalina 10.15.1). Today, after some hours of use, it randomly rebooted. I was just having some Chrome tasks and Word documents opened, nothing crazy.
Also, the temperature of the laptop on macOs compared to Windows is very hot! Is there a way to solve this?

Mac App Store not working

Unsure what logs to provide or how, sorry.. I just installed the newest build, and found that signing into the app store failed. When I login, the login dialogue disappears as it would if it were successful, but the app still indicates a need to sign in. Anyone else having this issue or a fix?

Can't turn off bluetooth

The method to get bluetooth working worked fine and bluetooth is working however the option to turn off bluetooth is greyed out.

Installation stuck because of operating problem

I cannot install it on my Matebook X Pro 2018, because I cannot use trackpad and bluetooth mouse during the installation. I've already reached the installation page, and I've settled the disk. But the disk-selecting method of installation is unable to use keyboard to control, so I cannot go any further...

Is there a way out?

I could call everything including log panel, but I cannot select my disk to start installation...

Bluetooth cannot find any device on Catalina

Install from windows crashes during "Reinstall macOS"

I was able to use the install from windows on an external drive (from the matebook) and it boots perfectly, but when I tried to install it onto a partition of my internal ssd, it repeatedly crashes at around 2 minutes left after I press reinstall macOS. I've tried with the image from the install from Windows guide as well as a newer one I downloaded from my external drive hackintosh, and both have the same issue. My EFI is 600mb (although it is at the end of the drive). I can provide any logs if you need them, but I currently don't know how to get them. I've also tried with the partition as both APFS and HFS but I get the same problem.

Audio Playing from 2/4 Speakers

Hey, have you guys tried patching this using a custom AppleALC already or is this something that's been tried and given up on?

I'm willing to take a look at it if that's the case (have some experience with Linux ALSA)

If you have the changes you did to ALC already posted somewhere let me know. Thanks!
