More advanced players don't need notes to be generated for the first couple of moves, like 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 because they are always the same.
It is probably possible to use the same tool for all kinds of chess training (puzzles, endgame). This would be mostly a documentation issue because you have to change the starting position.
When a game collection is imported into a deck a complete synch happens, resulting in notes being inserted into the deck, others being updated, and notes that don't belong to any position in the game collection are deleted, including the associated learning progress. This is maybe not the desired behaviour, especially if it happens unintentionally.
Currently, the add-on distinguishes notes only by the sequence of moves that lead to a certain position. If another sequence of moves tranposes into the same position, new cards a generated for it.
The file selector should not show files that had been deleted in the meantime.
Currently a note is considered "new" and will be added/updated if the sequence of moves of the other side leading to this position does not yet exist in the deck. This is not the optimal solution when we want to train a new variation and allow a new move for our side. The same goes for the case that the preference was changed from one reply to another.
It would be better to also take all replies to that sequence of moves into account. That are all the moves that are given as possible replies on the back of the card. Such a change should also mark a card as dirty.
The consquence of the issue is that the note will not be considered a new note and it may take considerable time until it is presented again.
The fix for #6 was to call mw.reset()
. The better approach would be to use the CollectionOp
operator. According to Anki forum user abdo (@abdnh) it is possible to pass a success handler to the success()
method, see https://forums.ankiweb.net/t/update-deck-overview-after-import/38323/2.
Currently, if you switch the colour, the deck and the file selection automatically changes. This should only happen if they had not been touched while the dialog was open. So, if you had already selected a file or a deck, changing the colour will not change anything at all.
After a successful import, the deck overview still shows the old number of cards.
