globalsat-sporttracks-plugin's Issues

Globalsat gh505 support in Linux

The Globalsat gh505 shows as /dev/ttyACMx out of the box in Ubuntu.
The plugin don't find it as it search for /dev/ttyUSBx

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Search for devices on both /dev/ttyUSBx /dev/ttyACMx

This small change will make the plugin work in atleast Ubuntu but probably all
modern linux distros out of the box for gh505 (and probably future models)

Transmitting only new data stopped working

When using my GH625XT with plugin version 3.2.248, I could set "Import new data only" to greatly reduce the duration of the import when there were a lot of tracks on the watch but only few new ones.

With the current build 3.2.267 (starting from 3.2.262 or probably earlier), the plugin always reads all the data from watch. Only after that it seems to automatically disable the checkboxes for those tracks which have already been imported at an earlier time.

Was this new behaviour introduced on purpose? To me, it means that I cannot use the recent plugin without frequently deleting all the tracks on the device.

Discard calculated distances, use distance between GPS points instead

Hi Gerhard,

as requested a new issue in Github.
In response to your questions:

  • If you look at the fitlog, there is a element
    33477
However looking at the last indididual point
    28935.169921875
It is the distance calculated in the individual trackpoints that seems incorrect

My workflow: Import using the Globalsat-plug-in, Sync to ST.mobi.
I would then use Tapiriik to sync with Strava, but Strava does not use the summary data, but the calculated values, so my data on Strava look far worse than it really is.
Because of this, I now manually export from ST.mobi to TCX, convert this using TCXTools.com, then upload this to Strava, so this will show the same results as the ST.mobi summary..

I will try tour suggetion of using the Manual Calculations option in ST, but I suspect the data is already "wrong" in the watch and i doubt ST will do anything about it....

Having the option of recalculation distances based solely on GPS-point in the settingspage of the plug-in would be a acceptable solution for me.

Assistance with code

I apologize for posting this if its not appropriate ... I'm trying to get
generic support of a globalsat device ( really the Timex version of the GB580P
). Your plugin seems to get a bunch of the info I need ... but I'm a bit stuck
on how to actually utilize it, mostly because I can't break out the parts that
require Zone Five objects. ( like the device and packetfactory objects... )

I really just want to read the tracks off the device, and am trying to find the
code in here to help me do that.

Any tips or direction you could give me would be so appreciated.

Thanks,

Shane

Sporttracks3 end of life

Hi,
ST3 is discontinued and it looks the globalsat devices are not supported in the new Sporttrack web version:
https://sporttracks.mobi/works-with
Am I wrong? Any ideas about hot to read the data from the GPS (trying to not trough away a device that still works).
Cheers,
Andres

GlobalsatDevicePlugin-3.2.149.st2plugin

Hallo! Ich habe mir das GlobalsatDevicePlugin-3.2.149.st2plugin installiert. Leider bekomme ich keine Verbindung zum Globalsat GH625, es erscheint jedesmal die Fehlermeldung:

256813 turned on but not connected

Configure threshold for pause detection

The Globalsat protocol has no way to describe pauses. If you pause, the time
just stops but not distance (that is from GPS). The plugin tries to guess
pauses from the time, speed and GPS distance.

As this is a guess, it may not work well with longer recording intervals.
Similarly, the default settings may be too conservative to work optimal in
other situations.

This should be configurable.
