I have noticed that Google Webmaster tools tell me that I have duplicate the meta descriptions. Do you know how to avoid that? Right now, it takes me always the "decription" of _config.yml. Do I have to create different layouts?

Hi, I have a problem when I upload the site through gh-pages branch.

It says "Missing gmap key"
I just changed eventPlaceCoordinates. Also tried to set up an API KEY in the project from my google console dashboard.

I know that rewriting public history is a bad idea, but the partnership pdf file is relatively big and slows down the repository.

I just cloned the repo, and set GH to serve (I did not change anything).

Does this require reading up on all of the Jekyll documentation?

The site was building fine up until I made, I guess one change, I've tried to revert back and compare with the original files but can't find the issue. Jekyll is saying:

it would be interesting if website visitors would find an easy solution to search speakers, events and blog posts. The jekyll theme https://mmistakes.github.io/minimal-mistakes/ has recently integrated a js client-side search based on https://github.com/olivernn/lunr.js .

Usage of rectangle images for team members or speakers cause bug of its displaying — https://cloudup.com/clzcxITuvAq (images are vertically repeating). I was able to make simple workaround — gdgomsk@795785a, but I'm sure you can come up with better solution.

I was thinking about this a lot and I would like to get your opinion before implementing anything.

There is an open source project called thumbor for image optimization in web sites.

Right now while I develop WTM Istanbul 2015 I take my time to optimize the images. But I remember that we didn't do much for DevFest Istanbul. Especially it is really hard when all of the organizers are busy with the event.

With thumbor, since we compute the sizes of every image when we draw them, we can give it to thumbor and it optimizes them and cache them in the server. After the first time the webpage is open, all the images become optimized. And you can also store images with effect like grayscale to be even faster.

The downside of it is that it has to be installed manually on a server. I know we cannot have a central server for everyone. What we can have is to have a wiki page about how to install thumbor and just enable it by providing a thumbor server URL in the config.

What do you think?

To reproduce:
Open schedule -> click any session for details -> detail screen of presentation appears, and URL changes to one with session id -> close presentation details card (ESC button or X) -> URL is still with session id
This result in that users in many cases copies URL with session id, when they don't want to do so, and are surprised why detail card appears.

Suggested solution:
Remove session id from URL when closing detail card.

I'm running Ruby on Windows 8 64 bit with Jekyll & DevKit properly installed, tested with a simple new site and it worked fine, but after trying out yours I had no luck. Any ideas?

With last chrome update you can see bad displaying of parallax sections.
So here is some quick fix:
Better way:
Edit /_sass/partials/_helper.scss

Delete or comment background-attachment: fixed; in &.parallax { .. }

Simple way:
Remove parallax class on sections where they are.
Note: with this solutions you will remove box-shadow on that sections.

I am trying to modify and deploy this template using firebase and godaddy hosting. I don't have any issues with the build or any features locally or when directly served from firebase see here. But when modify the DNS records to forward my desired domain see here the location container breaks. This is strange because I see the same errors

on all instances of this template in production...
