obsidian-things-link's Issues

Suggestion - Create tasks for any unchecked boxes on current page

(Optional Setting)

Flow

  • Parse current page for any top level unchecked boxes ( - [ ] )
  • Based on what is gathered, create a task and send it to inbox (or relative project from #9)

Bonus

Any unchecked boxes underneath top level could be added as subtasks of created things task.

  • Not sure if that is possible using x-callback url scheme though

[Feature] support subtasks

If the current task is sent to Things, then bundle any indented sub-tasks below as lines in the checklist for that task in Things.

Since Things only supports one level of subtask, there would need to be a decision of whether to (a) flatten the subtask hierarchy or (b) visually indent each subtask with spaces in Things.

in other words,

  • level 1
    • level 2
      • level 3
    • level 2.2

could become in Things:

a)

  • level 1
    Checklist:
    - [ ] level 2
    - [ ] level 3
    - [ ] level 2.2

or
b)

  • level 1
    Checklist:
    - [ ] level 2
    - [ ] level 3
    - [ ] level 2.2

I prefer the (b) option but I could see an argument for (a).

Backlink to obsidian

Thank you for this useful plugin!
Is it possible to have an option to add a backlink to the Obsidian note to the task created in Things?

Plugin not working?

Installed on a vault (with Minimal theme plus a few other plugins)...
Cannot see commands in Command palette. Works in another vault with different themes and some different plugins.

  • Disabled all other plugins - still not working.
  • Changed theme to default - still not working.
  • Uninstalled all other plugins - still not working.

(BTW, restarted Obsidian after each step)...

Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Request for Usability: Option to Create Things Link Next to the Task

Hi Gavin,

First of all thanks for this small but powerful plugin. It really made my life much easier since I was stuck trying to figure out a way to communicate my tasks between Things and Obsidian.

There is one small issue I noticed which occasionally causes problems. When Things Link creates the link between Obsidian task and Things task, it turns all of the text into a link. But this causes some problems with tags and linked notes inside the sentence. In those cases either tags become unusable or note links or Things links break. Like this:

One option might be adding the Things link next to the task, maybe a one word text or only an emoji to link. Like this mock-up:

Suggestion: clever assigning of task to project

Hi,

Thanks for this really helpful plugin!

If a note could have an "assigned" things project (either through a link in the file, or the header -- when you create the project from the note in obsidian this header could be automatically filled in), then when a task is created, it would be great to have it assigned to that project rather than the inbox.

Cheers,
Paul.

What is 'things'?

Perhaps a link to 'things' could help to understand what the plugin is about.
