None at all. Even changing it to an Apache license would be fine.

Fine with me. I would even push to LGPL 3.0.

Fine with me, although I don't feel like I need to be asked, because I don't remember contributing with Gaphor, unfortunately :)

With my single commit I'm agree with the upgrade to LGPL 3.0 or Apache with a little preference to Apache.

Can we also have your explicit permission to relicense your contributions?

Any other thoughts on upgrading to a newer version of the LGPL or to Apache?

Summary of differences:

  1. LGPL requires that derivative works must be licensed using the LGPL as well
  2. LGPL requires that source code must be disclosed with distribution, Apache does not
  3. Apache requires an express grant of patent rights for contributions, LGPL v2.1 does not (v3 does)
  4. Apache is more compatible, so we could include MIT or BSD software in our project, but we need to ensure that there is no other LGPL libraries that exist within the current software.

I think I would prefer a more permissive license (Apache), because it would be easier for me to get permission to spend some of my work time contributing to the project as well. I am not really concerned about someone taking our contributions and making a commercial product out of it.

@adamboduch, @jmallach, and @egroeper: could I please get your concurrence as well?

I am happy for you to move to the lgpl 2.1. You can add (or any later version) if you like, too. Thank you.

I'd say let's switch this code to Apache and be done with it :)
