FASTER is an extensive rewrite of FAST2 and FAST. There was no update for a long time and it was written in VB. I translated the whole project to C# using .NET Core 3.0.
Thanks go out to all the guys who helped the developpment and those who will test it. Also, to BI for giving us an awesome game to play with and break.

[BUG] Profile Naming in file list

Describe the bug
Update some profile settings (Player amounts or password changes) and noticed that the profile naming in the server list in the Windows File Explore is now a long sequence of words and numbers vs the name of the itself.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Create a Server Profile
  2. Rename the Profile
  3. Click on Save
  4. In file explorer, goto the Servers list and find the newly named folder
  5. Only finding _4a6a746676d3481aae9a9e6948088d95 now in the time stamp for the exact time I saved it.

OS Version (required):

  • OS: windows 2012

Additional context
Updated to a new version of .Net, not sure if that created the issue due to I am running another tool for Dead Matter

[BUG] Improper Handling of Renamed Workshop Mods

Describe the bug
Whenever a mod's title is renamed by it's author on the Steam workshop FASTER isn't able to handle it correctly. The mod will end up being treated as a local mod and usually replaced with a download with the new title. However just now I had trouble because it didn't update correctly in my profile so I had to delete the mod, save the profile, then redownload the mod.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Create a test mod on the workshop
  2. Download the mod with FASTER.
  3. Go to the mod's workshop page and rename it.
  4. (possibly not necessary) Use Arma 3 tools to update the mod's file contents.
  5. Check for and download update in FASTER.
  6. Look at "Local Mods". A duplicate mod should now be in there.

Expected behaviour
The current download of the mod should be renamed and updated correctly. Also the name should be updated in any profiles.

Actual behaviour
The name change is not handled gracefully and results in a duplicate being downloaded and possibly other issues occurring.

Headless Client Doesn't Initiate

I have found an issue where Headless Clients won't initiate when the "-ip=" server setting is used. Since my physical server has 5 ethernet ports, I have to manually assign the IP address I want the server to listen on. When not using the "-ip=" I don't have any trouble with the Headless Clients connecting.

[BUG] Unable to download large mod

Describe the bug
I'm not able to download 10gb mod from workshop.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Go to 'Steam Mods'
  2. Click on 'Update mod'
  3. Wait
  4. See error

[FEATURE] Allow Steam Workshop Mods to be downloaded to Arma 3 Server Folder instead of SteamCMD Folder

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Currently the Steam Workshop mods are automatically downloaded in SteamCMD steamapps folder and not in Arma 3 folder. If i run multiple game servers it just gets cluttered in one space. I had been using SteamCMD Batch file before to download the mods to Arma 3 Server Directory with force_install_dir command. FASTER didnt even detect steam workshop Mods installed in my Arma 3 Server folder so had to download all of them again.

Describe the solution you'd like
Allow us to select Location where to download Steam Workshop Mods and than create a Symbolic Link in Arma 3 Server Folder of the same.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Well none as of now.

[BUG] No mods can be updated

Describe the bug
First installation of all my current mods have worked without a hitch but updating seems not to work.
The tool checks for updates properly but when I choose to update any of them, the updater shows the following:

Fetching mod ID infos...
Attempting to start download of item ID...
OK.
Downloading X files with total size of X,XX B...
Progress 00,00%
Error: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\Server\Documents\ModStagingDirectory\ID\addons\file.pbo' because it is being used by another process.

  • Everything else seems to work fine. Installing new mods, deploying, running the servers and headless clients.
  • It is the same no matter what mod I try to update.
  • Same result whether I do an automatic update on all mods or attempt to update them one by one.
  • There is no other process except FASTER running that can possibly be using the file. Even after a clean reboot, the problem remains.
  • FASTER runs as administrator.
  • I have tried turning all anti-virus and similar off.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Go to Mods.
  2. Click to update any mod.
  3. Error occurs and no mod files are downloaded.

[BUG] Can't delete a server profile

Describe the bug
After creating your brand new profile you can't delete. You just can't find a way to easily delete it.

Expected behaviour
It should have a button somewhere, like the previous version when the button was aside the save and play. That can be on the right-click too.

Actual behaviour
No button, you just can't.

Difficulty Preset

The Difficulty Preset setting in the Missions tab does not appear to force difficulty on the mission selection screen?

to reproduce
Set difficulty Preset to 'Custom' join the server, pick a mission, difficulty options are available.

Expected behavior
Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the setting was meant to create the forcedDifficulty = ""; value in the server.cfg

Actual behavior
No value created, does not appear to do anything, note I am using it without choosing missions in the mission selector override.

[BUG] Headless Clients launched in a loop

Describe the bug
The headless client option seems to launch a lot of headless (A LOT) when set to two.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Go to 'Headless clients'
  2. Set to slider to the second indent
  3. Launch
  4. Observe

Expected behaviour
I expect 2 headless clients to launch.

Actual behaviour
I had a very large number of headless clients launch.

Screenshots
I don't feel like going through that nightmare of closing a hundred or so arma 3 executables all over again on a PC that's slown to a crawl. You'll have to take my word for it.

[FEATURE] Optional Mods column

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Currently I'm managing optional client side mods through the client column in the mods view. This clutters it up (and also causes the server to launch with JSRS enabled). I'd like to avoid that.

Describe the solution you'd like
Have a separate column labelled "Optionals" or something like that which doesn't do anything but copies the keys over into key folder. That combined with your lovely import preset functionality would make it super easy to manage a approved list of optional mods.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Running optional mods in the client column. Cluttering server launch and sometimes causing issues with the "Setup mods and join" functionality.

Additional context
FASTER is the best.

[BUG] Crash on 2fa screen after cancelling mod updates

Describe the bug
FASTER crashes when you start an update, press cancel before the 2fa screen comes up and then press submit.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Start a mod update
  2. Click cancel before the 2fa popup comes up
  3. Leave the 2fa popup empty and press submit

Expected behaviour

Actual behaviour
The entire application crashes

[Bug] ARMA Server not visible if too many mods are loaded into FASTER

Describe the bug
Hello,
I've run into a problem that renders the server invisible on the Arma Launcher:

  • If I have more than 31 mods installed
    AND/OR
  • If I have more than 30 mods activated for a single server execution

In both ways, the server can't be found through the launcher but is still connectable with "Direct Connect". This could be reproduced on two separate machines. We are using the 1.7b H3 version on both. Let me know if I can provide more pieces of information.

Thank you for any help.

To Reproduce

  • Have more than 31 mods installed
    AND/OR
  • Have more than 30 mods activated for a single server execution
  • (Optional) Have HCs set to 2

Expected behaviour
Server can be findable in ARMA 3 Launcher again with > 30 mods active/> 31 mods installed

Actual behaviour
Server starts fine, Server isn't findable in ARMA 3 Launcher, can be connected through Direct Connect though.

OS Version (required):

[BUG] Copy keys not working for local mods

Describe the bug
Copy key function copies keys of all local mods instead of only selected ones.
If there a no steam mods downloaded (only local mods) copy key function does not work at all.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Go to Profile
  2. Click on "Copy Mod Keys"
  3. Open explorer and check which keys are in the keys folder
  4. Extra keys are in there

Expected behaviour
Only selected keys should be copied.
Copy key functionality should work with only local mods.

Actual behaviour
All local mod keys are copied or none at all (if no steam mods installed)

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Go to Server tab
  2. Click on Server Advanced
  3. Enter a custom value in Steam Protocol Max Data Size
  4. Save the changes

[FEATURE] Copy server mods

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
There's an option to copy mods from player to headless, but not to copy from server to players.

Describe the solution you'd like
Just add the same functionally to player's mod list, like in the headless list.

[FEATURE] Install DirectX on setup

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Installing Arma servers onto a server requires DirectX. Mircosoft in their infinite wisdom have decided to stop hosting the setup files requiring users to download them from shady third party sites.

Describe the solution you'd like
A checkbox on the "First Startup" page of FASTER that allows people to install the base requirements aswell.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Telling people to download the setup file somewhere else.

Additional context
I've tested it both in steamcmd and steamcli (Bytex). Works fine.
Parameters DirectX for Bytex CLI:
.\steamcli.exe --username=userthatownsarma3 --password=password --app-download --targetdir=.\download --os=windows --appid=228980 --depotid=228990 --synctarget

Parameters for Steamcmd (seems you can only install the whole Steamworks Common Redistributables):
+login userthatownsarma3 password +app_update 228990

The required Depots are (according to steamdb):

  • 228983 | VC 2010 Redist
  • 228984 | VC 2012 Redist
  • 228985 | VC 2013 Redist
  • 228990 | DirectX Jun 2010 Redist
  • 229004 | .NET 4.5.2 Redist
  • (and .NET Core 3.1 for steamCLI by Bytex)

[BUG] Only one headless client launches (Perfomance/Profiling Branch)

Describe the bug
Try to launch two headless clients while running performance/profiling branch

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Set HCs amount to two or above
  2. Click on Launch HCs

Expected behaviour
All headless clients should launch.

Actual behaviour
Only one headless client launches, the other ones get stuck on start up and are shown as "not responding" in task manager.
Caused by:

they all want their seperate signature cache (will freeze until the other opens access to it), and profileNamespace

Dedmen (Bohemia Dev) on Discord

OS Version (required):

  • OS: Windows Server 2019 Standard 1809
  • FASTER Version 1.7aH3

Suggested Fix
iterate the profile launch parameter for headless clients like so:
"-profiles=E:\Arma3_Server\Arma3\Servers\_aaf3ce999caf4539b903336ded3830fc_HC1"

Additional context
Technically this is the way its supposed to be done in main branch aswell, it just worked for some reason.
This made Will.Bolton45 really sad

[BUG] (Semi-resolved) Steam CMD Times out when trying to download workshop mods

I just recently got back into server hosting after not using FASTER for upwards of 4-5 months. I imported a new mod HTML with the new thing we want to use. But every time I go to have it download all the new mods it get's through 1-4 mods before it throws this error and times out.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. I simply click on the update-all button on the steam mods section and let it run.
  2. Eventually it will time out and close Steam CMD.

[BUG] Not all keys copied

Describe the bug
Not all keys are being copied from their mod folders to the root folder if they are not in the /keys subdirectory

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Download a mod where key is not in /keys subdir (e.g. @ACE_Interaction_Menu_Expansion which has UPSL.bikey key)
  2. Click on "Copy Mods Keys" button
  3. Look into keys folder and notice lack of key

Expected behaviour
All keys to be mapped and copied over

Actual behaviour
Only keys in /keys subdir copied over

Screenshots
N/A

OS Version (required):

  • OS: Windows Server 2019 Standard
  • Version: 17763.rs5_release.180914-1434

Additional context
Could probably be solved by mapping each mod folder for the *.bikey pattern to a depth of 2 or 3. It might take a tad longer, but it ensures all keys get copied, because otherwise having to trawl through all the folders to ensure all keys are copied defeats the point of the copy button

[FEATURE] config Appends

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I'm always frustrated when I'm trying to add settings to my config file that aren't included in the FASTER GUI.

Describe the solution you'd like
(1. Include all possible Settings in the GUI)
2. Have a "append" box on the "Performance" and "Server" tab which enables user to append custom settings to the basic.cfg and server.cfg

Describe alternatives you've considered
Writing in the file directly, doesn't work great because FASTER overwrites changes every time you click save.

Additional Context
This should be pretty straightforward to programming wise, should basically work like Mission Override Field in the "Missions" tab (which also just adds the whole input into the server.cfg).

[FEATURE] Support for multiple servers

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I want to host multiple server instances with different modsets. Currently I can't have multiple instances due to the shared keys folder if those different instances are about to use different modsets.

Describe the solution you'd like
Have either an option for a local settings environment or have an option to set the A3 server location for each profile separately.

Thank you a lot :-)

[BUG] The process cannot access the file 'C:\steamcmd\steamapps\common\Arma 3 Server\arma3server.exe' because it is being used by another process.

Describe the bug
For some reason I'm getting an error saying that the files are already in use when I attempt to update the game after updating FASTER to 1.8b. I believe I was previously using either 1.7a H5 or 1.7c. When I check what program has the files in use via ProcessExplorer it can't find any open handles for those files.

To Reproduce
Not sure, I simply click "Update" and it craps out.

Expected behaviour
For the update to download without error.

Actual behaviour
The download fails.

All Done !

[BUG] Mutiple annoying issue.

Describe the bug
Issue with mods.
Issue with downloading mods.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:
Issue One;
1.Import a mod list (in my case i imported 29 mods)
2.Check for update , returns 'Not Installed'
3.Press 'Update all' , wait until all done
Issue Two;
When I'm manually re-download all these faulted mods by cliking the standalone update buttons...
The update console returned these error and refuse to download them.Restarting OS or FASTER all no use.

Failed! Error: Client is faulted and cannot be used: Error code: PasswordRequiredToKickSession
Failed! Error: Client is faulted and cannot be used: Error code: RateLimitExceeded

and now these mods are marked as 'download not completed' in mod list.

Expected behaviour
In older version like back into prior WP edition (directly using steamCMD), these mod will be correctly tagged correctly as 'download not complete' or 'not downloaded', should be able to solve by manually download them for mutiple times

Actual behaviour
All status shown 'up to date' , yet mutiple mods are actually not downloaded , other few are not fully downloaded. for those not being downloade, The folder are empty and the size are 0.00b. for those are not downloaded pops error message while starting server and thats how i know the download is not completed.
click check for update or update all, no use.

Additional context
Sorry for my terrible grammar or spelling , I'm not a domestic English speaker.
Story in short.
Import the mod list, click update all.
It shows all downloaded.
Error pops out when addon init.
Check mod list , found 0.00b mods
Try solve these faulty mod by manually click update button one by one.
Console returns error , cant proceed.
Now sitting here writing this issue report despirately with my poor rubbish English.

[FEATURE] Add Arma 3 Server install directory

Maybe more of a question. Install Directory is for the base Arma 3 instance? Adding Servers there seems confusing to me, given there is a separate Arma 3 Server install. Would it not be better to spec that folder, i.e. \Path\To\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3 Server?

[FEATURE] Move Starting of Server -mod to parameter file instead of direct launch.

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Currently it uses Steam Mods name as folder on Arma 3 server, some of the mods wont load due to Steam Protocol issue. Would recommend shifting Launching of Server with Parameter File instead of direct Launch method with -mod=

Describe the solution you'd like
For Mods create a new Parameter File and use that Parameter file to load the mods to the server.
Reference : Startup Parameter Config

Describe alternatives you've considered
None

Additional context
Nothing.

[BUG] High GPU usage when checking for updates

Describe the bug
When checking for mod updates, or installing updates, GPU usage is high (30-70% on a GT 1030)

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Check for update on installed mods
  2. Monitor GPU usage
  3. Optional Resize window to see that the larger the window, the larger the GPU usage

Expected behaviour
Little to none GPU usage

Actual behaviour
30-70% GPU usage

Screenshots
image
Full screen, small window where you can see usage dip, then full screen again

image
Checking for updates, waiting for steam, installing updates. You can see spikes

OS Version (required):
image
1.7b H3

Additional context
Appears to only be an issue when scrolling status bar appears. When updating arma, the status bar does not appear during verification process, but does during the login of steam. GPU usage reflects this.

[BUG] Bandwidth Presets

Describe the bug
Perfomance Presets are broken.

To Reproduce
Go to "Perfomance" Tab
Expected behaviour
MinBandwidth = should be the corrent bandwidth number;

Actual behaviour
It isnt.

Additional context
Will provide some presets later.

[BUG] DLC is named CLSA instead of CSLA

First of all: Thanks for this great an very professional tool!!!!

A typo that has consequences:

When I want to select the DLC CSLA Iron Curtain it is named in the GUI as CLSA and also downloaded into a directory called CLSA

To Reproduce
Look at DLC selection - try the Update/Download

Expected behaviour
The GUI-Selection should be CSLA and the created directory should also be CSLA.

Actual behaviour
The GUI-Selection is CLSA and the created directory is CLSA.
Due to this the parameters are also wrong and are CLSA instead of CSLA.

This results in rejecting clients with correct naming of the CSLA-DLC.

[FEATURE] Add (De)Select All buttons for server mods

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I'm always frustrated when I should manually turn on 40+ mods by clicking on each.

Describe the solution you'd like
Add basic control for this. e.g.
изображение

Describe alternatives you've considered
Toggle all values by click on column header
