teams-api's Introduction

teams-api

An unofficial wrapper for the unofficial Microsoft Teams API

Description

This library (still work in progress) was created with the goal of helping the creation of alternative (and open source) Microsoft Teams clients. Currently, the library itself can only handle a couple of endpoints and is by far not ready yet.
My goal is to complete this library as soon as possible and start the creation of an alternative client based on it.

Usage

For now, you can only run the tests or use the library on your own. For this you'll need a couple of Microsoft Teams tokens.

Obtaining a token

Using teams-token one can obtain (and automatically save) the tokens necessary for this library to work.
Simply clone and yarn start that repository to get your Teams tokens stored into:

/home/user/.config/fossteams/token-chatsvcagg.jwt
/home/user/.config/fossteams/token-skype.jwt
/home/user/.config/fossteams/token-teams.jwt

With these tokens, you'll be able to test out some features like the GetConversations test that retrieves a list of Teams your user is connected with.

Testing out

I have created a Microsoft Team org with the free version that you can join and test out / help debugging / improve this library with.

This would also be interesting because we can use it as a platform to discuss the API / CLI and it will help us implement more features related to multi-tenancy.

teams-api's Issues

Some files couldn't be uploaded because their missing necessary data

Some System info if needed:

  • Linux Mint 21.1 Cinnamon
  • Cinnamon Version 5.6.8
  • Kernel: 6.2.8-060208-generic
  • Processor: 13th Gen Intel© Core™ i9-13900 × 24

I use Syncthing-GTK to backup all my wireless cameras, devices and smart phones for the entire family to an auto-mounted hard drive; file system ext4; at mount point let's say /mnt/share
the /share folder has subfolders for each family member and all their devices.

I'm running Unofficial Microsoft Teams client for Linux using Electron version 1.1.1 Flatpack. I'll call it UMT

If I attempt to drag and drop a photo, video or data file (*.txt, *.csv, *.pdf, ect) into UMT then I get the error "Some files couldn't be uploaded because their missing necessary data"
File permission from /mnt/share/subfolder(s) are 664.

If I drag and drop a file from /mnt/share/subfolder to the desktop; user=me, then drag and drop the file from the desktop into UMT it will upload. File permission from /home/me/Desktop are 664 as it was copied.

If I launch micro$OFT Team$ web client, then drag and drop a file from the /mnt/share/subfolder(s) location it will upload.
