wakeup fails to resume the system if the lid of my laptop (Macbook Air 5,2) is closed. Is this expected behaviour?

rtcwake displays the same issue.

This persists with or without an X server.

seems the timer creates new threads until the box is really up. neat forkbomb.

do_suspend() seems to hate anything involving an argument. investigate if that is really the case and fix it.

the signal event runs with uid(0), moreover $HOME points to /root too. since the original process is done and dead by the time it triggers we have a slight problem. let's find out if sigevent can be teached to run as user or, if not, find an elegant way to accomplish that.
