Trust me it works. I had the same thing.

Did you try and reconnect the monitor when this happens? And you cannot set the resolution again before restarting? I have never heard this before..

I think the only time this happens is when I have the Macbook in Sleep for several hours. When I plug it back into my LG monitor my resolutions for 1920x1080 (HiDPI) are only running at 30hz. When I restart the Macbook it goes back to 60hz.

I had this happen to me. I fixed it by now going to energy saver settings and turning off putting hard disk to sleep when possible.

Thank you I appreciate the info.

Have you guys noticed any video stuttering when watching videos? At 60hz it is noticeable but when I switch it back to 30hz the video runs smooth as butter.

Haven't tried it yet. I will get I home. Watching YouTube was fine
yesterday though.

It's good possible that it's the GPU that can't handle this load smothly and is dropping frames? There's a reason why this resolutions an framerates aren't officially supported. If someone thinks it's something different. Please let me know.

it is indeed possible, and that's because of passive cooling. As far as I remember the GPU can do it, but only if actively cooled.
I still get the issue of random not waking up @arturojovann, did you change the setting for both battery and on power adapter ?
