Do not require the current working directory to be a Git repository

One of the goal of the plug-in is to make as few as possible assumptions on the development workflow. There is no need for the current working to be a Git repository (any other VCS/SCM could be used, or none at all) but currently this is still an assumption made by the plugin as it try to backup/restore a .git directory and a .gitignore file.

What prevents this command from inadvertently wiping out an existing Pantheon environment?

@pbuyle: I really like the way you are performing validation on the input parameters but unless I'm missing it, shouldn't the current environment on the Pantheon side be backed up first just in case the user accidentally overwrites something they want to keep?

Maybe you could add another option called --backup and default it to true with the option to override to speed things up on deployments?
