traymond's Issues

Win+Shift+Z Keyboard shortcut does not appear to work on Microsoft Store apps

Hello,

I have a Microsoft Store app, namely OneCalendar, that I downloaded to keep track of my appointments and meetings etc.

I'd like to keep it running minimized in the tray, so that it can send me notifications about my appointments.

However, I executed Traymond.exe and then used the Win + Shift + Z shortcut on it, and nothing happened.

That would seem to be a functionality gap.

Otherwise, I love this program! It's so portable!

Thanks for considering my issue.

Regards,

Brian Hart

Traymond shows a crashing window and Traymond processes remain after kill them

I will provide a animated gif of Traymond crashing in next Windows reboot.
Meanwhile here are some screenshots of two process tools not being able to finish/kill Traymond.

ProcessHacker:
traymond-prochacker

Process Explorer:
traymond-processExplorer

Unfortunately, TaskManager does not show Traymond process when executed as Run as administrator and if executed as user, it does not allow to kill/finish it.
traymond-taskManager

Funny that my user has Administrator permissions... Oh God, Windows!
By the way, this was tested on Windows 10: OS Version: 10.0.16299 N/A Build 16299

Can't minimize again when open the windows in other way

When I use Thunderbird, I can click on the notification to open the window, but the icon in tray won't disapper. So I have to double click on the icon to make it disappear or I can't minimize the windows into tray again.
Thanks for this great software anyway.

Suggested Features

Hi,

First, a special thanks for this useful app. Here are some ideas and features that you may consider adding and implant in the next update:

  • Run at Windows startup.
  • Define an app to run in pre-minimized mode (at startup or whenever it runs).
  • Add a "minimize to tray" button to any window, positioned beside the normal minimize button.
  • Define an app so that whenever it is minimized (using the default minimize button), it minimizes to the tray.

Thank you!

Does not work with UWP apps

Basically all UWP apps, Traymond doesn't work with them even with admin privilege.

Correct: it does work with Task Manager, sorry

Error! Traymond could not create a save file

The first load of traymond works, but subsequent times that I try and open traymond crash with message Error! Traymond could not create a save file.

I am on Windows 11.
Current workaround: I delete the data file, then relaunch traymond.

Edge web app icon in traybar

Hello,

thank you for this application, I find it really useful and indeed should be a native Windows functionality.

A minor issue I noticed is that, when minimizing to tray an Edge web app, the icon shown in the tray is not the one of the application, but the general Edge browser icon.

This can make it hard to recognize which icon corresponds to which app when you have multiple web apps minimized to tray.

Thank you!

Mattia

Frozen taskbar

I was using it yesterday and it worked all right.
However, after turning off and on the computer, my taskbar was frozen.
And by that I mean none of its info were available, I couldn't hit the Win button and the loading spinning circle was there forever.
I've deleted the generated .dat file and restarted the computer to see the taskbar working again.

Does this mean we have to delete the .dat file everytime we turn the shut down or restart the computer or is there another way to avoid this?
Oh, I'm using Win10, by the way.

When double-clicking the tray icon to restore the program, the extension button will be clicked by mistake

The program is great, it would be perfect if it can fix this small problem

for example:

I have hidden Edge to the tray.
When I want to restore Edge, I double-click the Edge icon.
Edge recovered, but the extension icon was also clicked.

my thoughts:

This is caused by the second mouse click up.
Therefore, the logic of double-clicking the mouse should be changed from judging down twice to judging up twice.

Feature request; Show shortcut key when mouse over traymond tray icon

I am trying out traymond and really only need it to minimize a couple apps on startup to the system tray. Since I only boot once a week I keep forgetting the shortcut key (win-shift-z). It would be great if you can add a mouseover reminder! Thank you in advance, this seems like a nice tool.

Icons lost when explorer is restarted

STR:

  1. run Traymond and minimize any window
  2. restart explorer.exe from Task Manager or somewhere else

Actual Results:
All minimized icons are gone together with Traymond itself

explorer.exe crashed and now idk what to do

my explorer.exe crashed so i tried terminating traymond from the task manager and then tried rebooting it but nothing happened now traymond is working perfectly but i cant see my old icons and traymond isnt in the task manager either

doesn't run with hotkey occupied

When the hotkey is occupied (I guess most probably win+Z), the app doesn't run. It doesn't help with Administrator
IMHO, the app should run anyway with option to change the hotkey

Doesn't Work With Task Bar Button

Environ: Windows 10.16299.125 Pro

STR:

  1. run Traymond & Any other app
  2. pin the app to the task bar
  3. use Win + Shift + Z to minimize the app
  4. click the task bar icon

Actual Results:

  1. the app window is restored but Win + Shift + Z does not work any more
  2. the app tray icon remains on Windows tray area. Double click on it to make it disappear and Win + Shift + Z works again.

Expected Results:

  • when the task bar button is click, Win + Shift + Z should have minimized the window as well and the tray icon should have disappeared
