It appears that the daemon can get itself stuck in CLOSE_WAIT state with some TCP connections. I've not yet pinpointed the exact problem or have a patch, but one of these days I hope to put some effort into figuring it out. I've had to deal with this elsewhere so I just have to dust off my brain a bit. I think it probably occurs when the client side may not close as gracefully as we might expect. Obviously you may more quickly spot and be able to address the issue and I'd be grateful if you did, but understand if this is not a priority for you.
