metric-cooking's Issues

Halving a recipe

I love this plugin, but I just ran into a situation, that's very typical for me. Most recipes are for 4 servings and I ever only cook for two.

So, I would love it, if in some cases I could turn on like halving (or sometimes 1/3, 1/4) option, which would also automatically calculate the correct amounts for me.

I realize that this isn't strictly what the plugin was meant to do, but it would go so nicely hand-in-hand with this that I thought I'd suggest it.

Cheers!

Hide original units

Can you please add an option to hide the original units?
Maybe show the original units in a tooltip when hovering over the replacement.
It gets noisy, and I don't want to see those american units that make no sense to me.
Tbs. and tsp. and such are fine.

Suggestion

Spices like cinnamon, paprika, and minced rosemary should be in [g] not [ml]

Great extension !!!!!!!!!! Infinitely better than"Cooking Converter".
It just needs a little larger database of ingredients for cross-dimensional conversions.

Also control panel for preferred units and database access for customization wouldn't be amiss.

There are kitchen spice scales with 0.01g resolution (not that accurate but within 0.025g ):

Conversion of "per <measure>" type statements and ratios

Example here at Serious eats' fondue recipie

...ratio of about one cup [240 ml] of wine per pound of cheese...

The one cup is converted, but the per pound is not. I also come across this type of ratio measurements in terms of per gallon or per stick of butter. It'll be nice to convert the per to its metric equivalent too. So for the example above it would become

...ratio of about one cup [240 ml] of wine per pound [453 g] of cheese...

Tea spoons

In this page "2 ts yeast" appears and it's not converted. I read in an other thread that if it's less than 4grams then it's not converted but 2ts is around 10grams so is this a bug or something?

Optionally show sugar and flour as dl

https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/10813/best-chocolate-chip-cookies/

Also here, the 1 cup of white sugar is converted to 200g, whereas I'd prefer if it was dl, because that's how we measure things in Finland and I assume other Nordic countries.
1 cup of butter indeed IS better as grams, so no need to change that.
But also flour is converted to grams, which would be better as dl.
Chocolate chips and walnuts are in dl, which is good!

Perhaps, if people wish to have sugar and flour as grams instead, there could be a simple preferences page for these really common ingredients, in case there's no default usage for them.

oil

Please add conversion to [g] for oils
not everyone likes to measure all liquids by [ml]
it can be messy

bold

Could you pleas put [15ml], [3g], ... in bold letters for readability sake?
or in italic if recipe is already in bold? Or change color or anything?

Also do a bold on detected ingredient modifier like:
1 tbsp butter
to
1 tbsp butter [14 g]

Whitelist

Could you add the option to have a whitelist that makes sites automatically convert the units without needing to click the icon?
