About this module:

This module was created for the Proyecto Arqueológico Zaña Colonial, based at Brown University, Providence, RI, USA. The module has been designed to record the workflow of context based archaeological excavation at three reducción sites in Zaña area, Peru.

Authorship:

This module was co-developed by Parker VanValkenburgh at Brown University and Adela Sobotkova, Shawn Ross and Brian Ballsun-Stanton at the FAIMS Project, Department of Ancient History, Macquarie University.

This module contains the following FAIMS features:

  • Locus & Locus Group based complex recording of excavation workflow
  • Descriptive guide with instructions for users
  • Relationships between individual layers (Locus, Locus Group)
  • Artefact & Special Find recording
  • Munsel Soil Colour Chart
  • On device created photos, photograph logs, sketches etc.
  • Coordinates from internal GPS
  • Validated fields with user observations
  • Controlled vocabularies
  • Language translation into Spanish

This module can be used with no or minor modification for:

  • archaeological excavation using contexts / loci
