[1]: Updates to the modpack within the same Minecraft version are automatic. The modpack cannot be updated automatically across Minecraft versions.

[2]: These launchers support the modpack and its mods by increasing their download count, but not with monetary benefits.

Download Resource Packs separately

FO includes some resource packs for a better experience, but they can also be downloaded separately.

Vanilla installation FAQ

Got an idea for a FAQ page, though with the upcoming vanilla installer I don't know if it's really needed.

Paragraphs:

  • How to install
    • Link to wiki page
  • So I just copy the mods, right?
    • No, because...
  • What is the zip
    • MultiMC instance...
  • What is in the zip
    • File structure, important folders, YOSBR
  • Why try a different launcher
    • Easy install/update
  • Why not client
    • Licensing, coding, ...
  • Easy installer?
    • Coming soon, but prefer launchers

New launchers

As one member wanted to contribute #28 already, thought I could write down a list of things that need to be created, eventually. Feel free to contribute to any of those but they will likely stay as drafts for some time as I will not merge until I consider the launcher itself to be ready.

Each launcher needs:

  • Install instructions
  • Update instructions
  • Mod adding instructions
  • Mod disabling instructions
  • Main repo readme table addition
  • Descriptions' number increase
  • Maybe some other references I've forgotten about

Main issue: Fabulously-Optimized/fabulously-optimized#297

Localization

I probably won't do Estonian, but if anyone is willing to localize the wiki to their language, feel free! Make sure to create a language code folder first.

Hints to improve performance beyond defaults

We could use a new page that describes, how users can improve performance beyond FO's defaults.
Basically it should gather many suggestions we've done in Discord #support into one page.

  • Giving more RAM for the instance
  • Adjusting video settings
  • Taking advantage of external GPU, updating their drivers
  • Using additional mods not part of FO (e.g. Phosphor, C2ME)

Originally this issue suggested only giving GPU suggestions, text below:

Some users with gaming computers have complained about poor performance with FO. The issue has usually been with the game not using the better GPU as expected.

We might need a wiki page that instructs how to adjust those settings. Since I do not have a gaming computer, I do not have much experience with that, so I cannot start one by myself.

Should be done as a separate page.

Site dark mode

This might not be possible with the current setup but would love a dark mode for the wiki. It might need to wait for
Fabulously-Optimized/web-redirects#1, since in theory it wouldn't be too hard to move everything over to that site in a /wiki/ subdirectory or something. But that's a project for the future :P

Malay (Jawi) is not in listings

Both CF and MR rejected it because the description is too long 😂
Guess we'll have to get the new site out soon and make listings English-only.
