I was directed to this repo from this bioRxiv preprint.

As you may be aware, all use of GBIF-mediated data is subject to the GBIF terms of use and specifically the data user agreement. An important part of this agreement—and a key component in the open data structure of GBIF—is that users must publicly acknowledge the the data publishers whose data they use, when publishing results in e.g. journal articles.
