Currently it's the same as OpenSSH which defaults to SHA-512 for ssh-rsa keys. You can swap the hash algorithm in the key using KeyPair::with_signature_hash after reading it.

Thanks, that will work for my use case, will look into this. I was confused by the openssh case because ssh-keygen even on 9.7p1 will still yield SHA256 fprints by default.

No problem. The fingerprint is just a hash of the public key - the public key auth algorithm is independent from that.
