Ethereum.org site

The main Ethereum website built with Meteor.

##Admin In order for admin to work you'll need to set up a default admin user. To do that add a setting file e.g config/settings.json (must be gitignored) with the contents similar to:

{
  "DEFAULT_ADMIN_ACCOUNT": "<email>:<password>"
}

Then start Meteor with

meteor --settings config/settings.json

ethereum.org's Issues

Blog title

The "Blog" title should link to the blog.

Speed up the blurbs

The flashing blurbs are maddeningly slow to change. Can you make them change faster?

A platform for decentalized applications

Instead of having "A platform for decentalized applications" as one of the flashing slogans, it should be persistently placed below the flashing slogans and more prominent and above the three boxes (Development | Ether | Foundation). It is the crispest answer to the main question: "What is Ethereum?"

Kill the italics

The flashing blurbs should not be italic. The font slant looks incoherent with the rest of the site.

Add social profiles on Founders section

It would be nice if we could have social profile links added in the box for each founder

To get things rolling here is a list of Twitter and LinkedIn profiles:

https://twitter.com/VitalikButerin

Remove Pokereum

Pokereum should be removed and never should have been there publicly in the first place. They have a weak white paper and are likely to remain vapor and they are trading on Vitalik's and Jeremie Miller's names ahead of their crowdsale. Replace it with Airlock or something legit.

misc feedback

Hi George,
Cool new site for an exciting new time. Just a couple odds and ends:

  1. Under the category "Looking to purchase ether?" a line reads that "exchanges are looking list Ether" rather than "looking to list Ether".
  2. Under the same above category: "which aims to establish an trading standard" should be "which aims to establish a trading standard".
  3. Under "What is the Ether Sale?" a line reads "please refer Vitalik Buterin's blogpost" which might read better as either "please refer to" or please reference".
  4. Under Stephan's about-me section: "while the excitement around decentralization is at all time high" might read better as "at an all-time high"; the hyphen adjoining all and time is also a minute, but more appropriate, fix.
    These are just a couple of potential grammatical holes I noticed in otherwise exciting, descriptive writing. I noted these while skimming through in perfunctorily so there may be more potentially.
    Please review these whenever you have the time and keep up the great work.
    Regards,
    Alex

Not responsive

The site is not really responsive. Not a great experience on a small mobile phone, though it is pretty good on my screen. A couple of people have complained to me about this. I am trying to get more detail. Was this tested on mobile?

Feedback from a friend on a Galaxy S3:
The problem is that it is just making everything tiny (to fit the screen), instead of doing it in a proper responsive way (modifying design to fit the form factor). Also, any "hover" actions either don't work, or aren't obvious actions. In this case, the "easy to develop", "easy to use", etc section works fine as hovering actions on the web (since you are accidentally moving your mouse over it), but on mobile there isn't that. You can tap to show the text, but it's not an obvious action. Secondly, the carousel is unusable on mobile. Can't click the very, very small buttons.

Feedback from a friend who built tradeblock.com:
This it not mobile at all. There is a lack of a viewport meta tag in which triggers actual mobile. Google has recently even made this a hard requirement to boost SEO rankings recently. We were forced into the same position with Bitcoin.com/trading because the domain is really owned by OKCoin. So we had to Iframe and just let it scale desktop.

Technology Carousel doesn't work well on a small screen

In the Technology section, the "carousel" is problematic on a phone. It is maddening and difficult to have to tap tiny, closely-spaced dots. Arrows might be nicer. And tapping/clicking on the right or left of the image should move the carousel accordingly.
