My suggestion awhile ago was to use tags in the README and/or description. That makes it easier to manage, extend and less automatic.

We could then more easily tag things like "Mobile" or "Big Data" "Social", etc

We need a way to manually override GitHub's language classification.

e.g.

https://github.com/Esri/offline-and-routing-data-collection-ios is being tagged as "D" and should be "iOS".

We can't trust the GitHub API for this. Our language tags in repos.yaml should override the language tag GitHub assigns.

Perhaps we could just extend the github language support.

By that I mean, when a language is correct, just use it. But when a language is incorrent, add a language tag to the yaml file and overwrite the existing language.

This would also get us around our "null language" problem.

I think I will close this and open an issue on the source-esri.github.com repo, as it will need to be solved there.
