PDU parser and generator for node or your browser.

How to install

npm install pdu.js

How to use

First require it:

var pdu = require('pdu');

pdu.generate()

    pdu.generate({
      text:'Some text',
      receiver:999999999999, //MSISDN
      encoding:'16bit' //Or 7bit if you're sending an ascii message.
    });

returns an array of generated pdu's.

pdu.parse()

pdu.parse('06918919015000240C9189194238148900003110211052254117CAB03D3C1FCBD3703AA81D5E97E7A079D93D2FBB00');

Returns an object, containing parsed information:

{ smsc: '9891100500',
smsc_type: '91',
sender: '989124834198',
sender_type: '91',

8bit TODO

Any update on getting "else if(encoding === '8bit')" going?

pduParser.generate() User Data Length not correct in 7-bit mode

Dear Emil Sedgh,

Thanks for your great PDU lib.

I have some test on module 'modem' that uses your pdu lib and I got problem while sending message in 7bit mode.
I found in pduParser.generate() the user data length (TP-UDL) in this case not calculated correctly and this leads to some characters at the end trimmed out, this should be base on original text string length rather than encoded pdu string base.

Btw, in pduParser.decode7Bit(), in the loop to built ascii string to return, I have also break if the char code is 0 (string terminator) to avoid of unnecessary character while printing on console (\u0000).

Correction in the documentation

Hi,

When testing out this module I read the readme which says to install this using:
npm install pdu.js

When I try to run that from my command line I get the following error:
npm ERR! code E404 npm ERR! 404 Not Found - GET https://registry.npmjs.org/pdu.js - Not found

I needed to run the command as npm install pdu to get the package installed correctly

how do I turn unicode to normal strings?

How to reverse generate

Hello,

i would like to use your lib to send big sms in chunks via pdu.
What I dont'understand is how you get back the text after the generate method:
