builds's Issues

Get this running smoothly with Fastboot

We would like to shift most of the main Ember website to use Fastboot and Ember across the board. Getting this mini app to run in that environment is the first step toward making this either an engine or more likely the main Ember website ... Details to be hashed out here as we get closer to that point ...

Update canary links

Per @rwjblue:

basically, from here: https://emberjs.com/builds/canary we need to update the app to fetch http://builds.emberjs.com/canary.json and then that is the current canary location

Change "Getting Started Guide" call to action

Context:
At the moment it looks like the warning in the Guides about being in an older version of the Guides. Every time I visit the builds page my brain pattern matches hard. We should introduce a different style of call to action to this page.

To-Do:

  • Take the text out of the current call to action, and put it in a paragraph element with the class "lead".
  • Change the button into a regular link.

Remove jQuery

We want to make sure we remove jQuery to cut down on bloat.

Remove unused dependencies.

I think the following should likely be deleted:

  • ember-ajax
  • ember-cli-app-version
  • ember-cli-shims
  • ember-export-application-global

I'm unsure about:

  • ember-maybe-import-regenerator

I don't think we use async / await in app code, so we can probably move this to ember-maybe-import-regenerator-for-testing (ala this scenario from my blog post).

Resolve https mixed-content issues with builds.emberjs.com

I just put in a PR to attempt a fix for a mixed-content issue here: #68

However, although that is required to remove the mixed-content errors in Chrome (isn't it?) our current build infrastructure (hosted on Amazon S3 I believe) doesn't apparently support https (I should have checked before putting in that PR).

How do we want to handle this? https://emberjs.com/ defaults to https (and I don't think we want to adjust that). @rwjblue are you able to update builds.emberjs.com so it serves content via https? Seems like that's our cleanest option ...
